Believe in Yourself
Johan Cruyff. He was an amazing football player, definitely one of the best players of his time. He has 3 Ballon D’or awards. A lot of people who watch football now might not know him, but he is the reason why Ajax and Barcelona have such amazing academies.
When he began his coaching career, he made his team play differently from other teams. He developed a new style of play, which is known as “tiki-taka”. People mocked him for this, but Cruyff didn’t give up on himself.
He continued playing this way and his efforts began to bear fruits. People started to notice it and they start to adapt to it. A lot of teams follow his philosophies, even now.
Dream Big
Lionel Messi, one of the best players in the world right now. But his journey wasn’t that easy. but when he was younger, when he was being interviewed, he said he wanted to score a lot of goals and win the Ballon D’or award one day. It would’ve sounded funny at that time but he worked hard towards his goal and now he is his club’s top scorer and possesses the most number of Ballon D’or awards in history (6).

Give More Than You Receive
Marcus Rashford, an English professional footballer. He has been playing for Manchester United since he was a child. At that time, he was very poor and could hardly afford training. He said he used to go to bed hungry.

During the pandemic, the economy took a hit everywhere and a lot of people couldn’t afford food. Rashford along with a few organizations collected money and fed a lot of homeless children in England. He was awarded MBE for his efforts.
Hard Work Pays Off
Cristiano Ronaldo, another great player along with Messi. He is from Portugal, from a small background. He used to clean the streets in Portugal. But he used to work hard. Due to his hard work, he rose to fame and was signed by Manchester United. He continued the hard work, he kept doing what he was known for and is now the scorer of the most number of goals in the history of the sport. He also has the most number of Champions League trophies.
Be Humble
N’Golo Kante, a French professional footballer. Like many other people, his journey wasn’t easy either. He was from a poor background, played in the fifth division in France. Long story short, He became a very good footballer over the years and has a World Cup trophy and two Premier League trophies to show for it. But what impresses me most is his humility. He lives a very simple life and is so grateful for what he’s been given.
Stay Loyal
These two footballers, Francesco Totti and Carles Puyol, other than being amazing footballers, have served their football clubs for a very long time. There are other loyal footballers as well, but they were the first two names that popped into my mind.
Friendships Are Important
Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann, two footballers who play for FC Barcelona. Messi has been Barca’s best player for more than a decade, whereas Griezmann signed for Barca after being successful in a couple of clubs. As soon as Griezmann signed for Barca, the whole Spanish media were bashing them, saying they won’t get along well, considering how well Messi got along with his former teammates Luis Suarez and Neymar Jr.
The football match that happened between Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain on March 8, 2017. It was a game of two legs, and Paris won the first leg 4-0. But the Barcelona coach at that time, Luis Enrique told the press that, “If they can score 4, we can score 6”. And they eventually did and won 6-5 on aggregate.
Trust Your Ability
When Lionel Messi was a child, he was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency, meaning he won’t grow taller. His family couldn’t afford his treatments, so they had to move to Spain from Argentina because Barcelona, a football club in Spain, agreed to pay for his treatments.
The story of Jesse Lingard, an English professional footballer, who used to play for Manchester United along with Marcus Rashford. But since the 19-20 season, he hasn’t been playing well, because he couldn’t concentrate on football. After all, his mother and grandmother were sick.

But eventually, They formed an alliance and have been amazing in 2021. Even a couple of weeks back, Messi gave up the opportunity to score a hattrick, something he hasn’t done in more than a year, and let Griezmann take the penalty.

He didn’t grow that tall, he’s still 5’7, which is not the appropriate height for a footballer. But he didn’t give up and kept on going and was an exceptional talent for his age. He uses his height as an advantage to get past defenders. He has a low center of gravity than other players and an exceptional dribbling ability, which helps him to get past defenders with ease. He is known as “La Pulga” (atomic flea) because of his height.

He was eventually replaced in the Manchester United squad by another player Bruno Fernandes. Lingard was loaned out to West Ham in 2021 and has turned his career around there. He has been their best player ever since and has received praise from all around the world.
