fasting is not healthy if you go hungry all day and cap off with a huge meal that replaces the calories you skipped earlier. Look at your daily diet for empty calories you can cut sugary drinks, refined grains. Do not cut the entire meal.

2. What is your fitness mantra?
  • Patience and consistency with healthy food choices and exercise regime.
  • Eating healthy mostly with taking care of macros and micros.
  • Workout 6 times a week. My personal preference is strength training and cardio at the end.
  • Try to get 8 hours of sleep.
  • Consistency in a quest of learning stuff related to fitness.
3. What are some major misconceptions about diet and exercise?

The only way to lose weight is to cut carbs from the diet- it’s not the truth in fact for healthy weight loss, we should add carbs to our diet. Carbs are the main source of our body. They help to fuel our brain, kidneys, heart, muscles, and nervous system.

Fat makes you fat- fat contains more calories than carbs but doesn’t make it the enemy. Fat with moderation helps with the absorption of vitamins and phytonutrients.

Fasting can help you to lose weight quickly- fasting is not healthy if you go hungry all day and cap off with a huge meal that replaces the calories you skipped earlier. Look at your daily diet for empty calories you can cut sugary drinks, refined grains. Do not cut the entire meal.

Lifting weight will make women bulky- bulky muscles can be caused by testosterone and women don’t have enough of this. Strength training will actually make muscles and give you a toned and shaped body.

Crunches will give you a flat stomach- the only way to get a flat belly is a combination of a healthy diet and exercise (especially strength training). You have to cut down your body fat percentage to get a flat stomach.

4.  How can one maintain a healthy lifestyle?

To maintain a healthy lifestyle you need to keep eating healthy. Add more fruits and vegetables to your diet. Avoid high sodium, junk food, and sweets. Maintain an exercise routine give at least 40-50 minutes a day to exercise. You don’t have to go to the gym for exercise but you need to keep your body active. You can do home workouts, aerobics, brisk walk, running, etc. Keep your mind positive, a positive mind can boost your energy and others too to keep their lifestyle healthy.

5. How do diet and exercise contribute to overall well-being and happiness?

Eating a healthy and balanced diet with regular exercise is essential in maintaining physical and mental health & well-being. Not only these are effective in preventing weight gain or maintaining weight, but a healthy lifestyle also helps to improve sleeping patterns and moods. Proper diet and exercise are two major factors in overall mental health. Both can help to reduce stress and keep your food fresh and your mind active.

6. How one can build a successful career in your field?

Being a dietitian is a wonderful career. And I love it. Before even getting to know how one can become a dietitian one needs to know what tasks have to be done by dietitians. Understand the nutrition level of different food items. Undertake the nutritional assessment of patients with medical conditions.

Advice & educate patients with diet-related disorders. Promote health & well-being by informing the public about the importance of diet & nutrition.
