Sumaiya Haque - More Than Anyone Else, Do It for Yourself (Style Influencer From Bangladesh)

I started my journey to speak up, share mental health awareness, share my own experiences, to spread love and support. Gradually, with time I started to get so much love from my followers and the journey didn’t stop. The journey will not stop In Sha Allah, one voice can inspire a hundred voices! In the meantime, I had the opportunity to work with several brands and share some fashion inspo.

Tell us about your background and journey.

I’m Sumaiya Haque. Professionally I’m a businesswoman, I’ve my own clothing line and am currently associated with an Optical business. Besides, I’m a model, modest style influencer, a makeup artist and an ex-teacher living in Bangladesh.

If I talk about my journey, I started my own journey by “being myself and loving myself” unapologetically, unconditionally. What can be more amazing than truly loving yourself right?

What led you to start your page on Instagram, and what is it about?

To be honest with you, I started my Instagram journey by getting inspired by myself. I went through some tough phases in my life and I’m glad to say that I learned a lot from my life & still learning. I started my page to connect with others; specifically, women, to tell them they can do it. Women deserve the world, but most of them do not realize how worthy they are.

How would you distinguish the term blogger from an influencer?

There are some significant differences between a blogger and an influencer. We can’t say blogging and influencing are the same things. They have their own responsibilities. A blogger always manages a blog, where a blogger publishes their own content. They write about specific topics, share their own knowledge and mostly publish it to their website.

A blogger can be an influencer too. On the other hand, an influencer is someone who influences or motivate their audience to do something. Most of the time influencers promote different products, services, brands and other platforms through their own platform. They also share their personal life experiences, pictures, fun posts etc. Influencers and bloggers both have a great impact on their followers.

Is it financially sustainable to be an influencer today?

Yes for sure, I believe whatever we do in life if we do it with full passion we can achieve it today or tomorrow. We must do what we love, when we do what we love with all our heart and work hard for it, financially one day it will support us too. Just keep going & we have to keep in mind that multiple sources of income are necessary too.

What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?

My idea of success in life is, “learn from your mistakes and never give up”. Giving up should never be an option, we must stand up and get our own back. Success begins in your mind. When we believe we can do it, we will be able to do it. Achieving is not always materialistic; it includes- happiness, peace, kindness, generosity, not giving up, being patient, and so on. You have to give your best to get the best.

How can someone become a successful social media influencer?

I get this question a lot from my followers too! Well, to become a successful social media influencer you have to be yourself first. Do not try to be someone else but you. You already got huge potential inside you, you have to utilize that. Stay true to yourself, be honest with your followers no matter what.

Consistency is the key. Do not focus on how many likes or followers you are getting, just keep doing what you do. More than anyone else, do it for yourself.

Which is your favourite book, and why?

I am literally a bookworm! I can’t name one book that can be called my favourite. My favourite genres are Sci-Fi, Thriller, Mystery, Romantic Comedy. I love so many books by Zafar Iqbal and Humayun Ahmed as well. If I have to pick one book right now I will say “Cosmos” by Carl Sagan, which is one of my most favourite books.

I think that’s worth reading because it’s about this universe which includes much detailed information. We as humans must know about the universe and how everything works around us because when we learn about this whole universe, living becomes worth it!
