Ishmam Chowdhury - Content Creation to Me Is ‘Self Expression’ (Bangladesh/Toronto Based Digital Creator)

Ishmam Chowdhury

I trusted myself and I was very clear in my mind about what I want and why I wanted to do it! That’s the thing about ‘Passion’, if you are passionate about something no matter how many obstacles, difficulties come your way, you will find a way out.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

Hi, this is Ishmam Chowdhury, a part-time digital content creator and student. I’m born and raised in Bangladesh. I have completed my 16years of schooling at Scholastica, an English medium school based in Dhaka. I am currently pursuing my Bachelor's degree from the University of Toronto. I am doing a double major in Health and Disease and Biology.

‘Content creation to me is ‘Self Expression’.
My journey as a content creator started to bring out the best in me. It made me believe in myself more than anything else.

2. When did you first decide that you wanted to create digital content and how did you start?

My journey as a lifeofishmam started 3years ago on April 18th 2019. At that time, I didn’t have any plan of becoming a content creator. It started out of my passion for fashion. In the beginning, my family wasn’t supportive and it was very difficult for me to do something against my family’s liking.

But I trusted myself and I was very clear in my mind about what I want and why I wanted to do it! That’s the thing about ‘Passion’, if you are passionate about something no matter how many obstacles, difficulties come your way, you will find a way out.

Now, as my family saw me grow into a better and more confident version of myself they started respecting my decision and got very supportive towards it.

3. Is vlogging and digital content creation a financially sustainable career?

Every career is financially sustainable when you reach a certain level. At the beginning of anything, when you start from scratch your hard work may not meet your financial expectation but as time passes, when you become a known face with that same hard work, that’s where the game changes, your life takes a turning point and your financial expectations are fulfilled.

4. How and where do you find inspiration to churn out content?

From my day to day life, everything starting from the street to the space, from other talented digital content creators. From my subconscious mind to my conscious mind I take inspiration from every idea that passes through my mind. We have to inspire ourselves first so that we can aspire. One of my main motives for being a Digital Content Creator is to INSPIRE as many of my followers as I can & to Inspire gives me a different level of Inspiration.

5. What piece of advice would you like to give to future and aspiring digital creators or influencers?

Success begins the moment you start believing in yourself, that you are capable of achieving everything in this world. Never underestimate yourself, this field is very competitive indeed but always remember that no one can be ‘You’. Do not fall for the followers game, it's just a number, your communication with your followers is all that matters. Keep on doing what you love, follow your desire, always give your best and the rest will automatically fall into place.
