I get more inspiration from good photographs than from an individual person. There are lots and lots of creative photographs that are my inspiration.
1. Tell us about your background and journey.
My name is Ramachandiran Govindaraj. I’m a professional photographer from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Primarily a lover of Nature, the reason I took to photography is to share my experience in the wild and to propagate the love for Nature and the need to conserve it.
I have been travelling with Nature for over a decade and sharing my experience in the Wild through my third eye. My standout quality as a photographer lies in choosing the right light and right position to create a work of art.
2. How did you decide to make your passion for wildlife photography your career? Was your family supportive?
The love towards the elephants in adulthood made me choose wildlife photography. I believe photographing the animals in their habitat is giving life to them and telling their side of the story.
3. What inspires you about wildlife photography?
I get more inspiration from good photographs than from an individual person. There are lots and lots of creative photographs that are my inspiration.
4. What is the level of commitment and time required in wildlife photography?
It needs your 200% commitment level especially in punctuality and patience. There is no bound in time to explore the wild.
5. What has been your biggest challenge that you faced while taking wildlife photos and how did you overcome that?
This pandemic situation is the biggest challenge that I ever faced in the wildlife journey. The situation made many of the like minded wildlife photographers to sit at home.
So I’m using this time to plan my future trips and also getting engaged with my social media audience. I’m addressing them on how to jump into wildlife photography and the basics of that.
6. What are the important skills one should have to be a successful photographer?
One hundred percent dedication and patience. The person should take the picture to satisfy himself rather than the social media engagements. Understanding the light and habitat is a must needed skill in wildlife photography.
7. What are some tips you would like to share with amateur photographers?
Don’t complicate much and keep it simple. Understand the light and the surrounding, choose your angle wisely and make the great output. Pre-Visualisation of the output while shooting the image helps to make more creative images.
8. What is your long term plan/ future plans ?
It is a never ending path and my plan is to travel across the world. My future plans are to publish few books about wildlife photography
9. Which is your favorite book and why?
I’m not that great a reader and no specific book that I can mention here.
