His Early Life

Abul Fazal (1551-1602)

Abul – fazal ibn Mubarak was the full name of abul fazal . he was born in Agra but his father was migrated from nagour ( RAJASTHAN) to Delhi where his father worked in the court of Akbar; his father was a liberal scholar and believed in living with peace and religious tolerance towards other religions and therefore his father has been a confrontation with ulama time to time.
The elder brother of Abul – Fazal was also the court poet in Akbar's reign.

It has been said that the background of the family plays a key role in shaping our virtue and thinking style, in the case of Abul – Fazal it is quite right. As his father was liberal, similarly Fazal's idealogy was also liberal. He had received extensive knowledge of Islam in all the fields, and he had a great influence on Sufi philosopher IBN ARABI.

Abul Fazal gained the access to court through his brother Faiz in 1575, and soon he became the favorite of Akbar through his skills and liberal, down-to-earth nature.

He started spending a lot of time with the Akbar and thus, he made a contribution in the bar's perspective of seeing the other religion and another important soft aspect. Abul Fazal was also one of the nine jews of Akbar.

Akbar Nama

It was no other than Abul Fazal himself who wrote on the famous book of the entire rule of Delhi sultanate and the book was none other than AKBAR NAMA, the book was having three parts which deals with the administration set up of Mughal, their way of running the country, day to day administrative affairs, how to deal with another important aspect of statecraft, the book also focuses on the life of Akbar, even the first two-part of AKBAR NAMA is Akbar centric and the last part of the book that is called AIN –I – AKBARI deals with the other aspect of administration and statecraft.

The book AKBAR NAMA is so important because it not only focuses on the political aspect during that time but also the traction and significant events of that time thus, the book is still important in the field of political science as well as history.

Abul Fazal's Ideal King

Abul Fazal's ideal king is a just and sovereign monarchy that is getting the divine light directly from the god. Abul Fazal connect the king as the representative of God on earth, he assert a lot on the divine theory of rule, however, despite that, he wanted the king to follow the oath of universal peace and religious tolerance towards the other religion.

He also wanted his king to be scientific and reasonable while taking decisions but, the king should also do regular worship of God. He knew that only that king could rule for a long time who ensure justice, peace, and a sense of harmony in the society thus he wanted his king to be just and peace-loving, and wise at the same time.

Sukh - i - Kul

Abul Fazal gave the theory of sukh-i-kul, which is the principle of universal peace and having religious tolerance towards other religions. Many historians see sukh –i-kul as a new religion during the period of AKBAR, and this very much sukh-i-kul, principle made an effort to make AKBAR great.

The sukh –I –kul could be seen as (secularism), treating each religion equally, everyone is free to profess the religion he wanted to profess, and state would not force anyone to chose certain specified religion and even the state will not discriminate the individual on the basis of his/her religion.

This was the first time in the Delhi sultanate that the sultan ( king) became much open with the matter of religion and accepting other religions openly, before AKBAR, the Mughal charges other religious people to pay certain taxes in order to protect their religion ( every non- Muslim individual before the Sukh-i-Kul had to pay a certain amount of money as a tax to follow their religion, and if they don’t want to pay the tax they can choose Islam over their religion.

Conclusion

Abul Fazal was a man of far sight and was very intellectual but, even in his writing, it shows his byes towards the monarch and thus in order that nobody could challenge the authority of the king he justifies the divine theory and shows the king as a representative of God on earth, and the king is getting the direct blessing from the god.
