Shubhra Paul Banker - I Come From a Family That Is Quite Experimental with Various Kinds of Cuisines So I Developed a Palette for Everything (Lifestyle & Food Blogger, India)

You can turn any passion into a full-time career. Food, travel, and lifestyle influencing is no exception. Never give up and be as original and consistent as possible. There are many helpful people out there. Just be curious and always reach out when needed.

1. Tell us more about yourself and your journey.

Food is one of the only things which connects everyone and is close to the heart and mind. I am one such hardcore foodie whose love for food has no bounds. Half my life I have been overweight due to uncontrollable urges to eat. Slowly I managed to balance a healthy lifestyle and lost 30 kgs.

But my love for food never really changed. I come from a family that is quite experimental with various kinds of cuisines so I developed a palette for everything. In 2018 I started my page @gastronomicjournal on Instagram, sharing my food journey with everyone across the globe.

2. When did you start Blogging?

Officially April 2018, unofficially 2016. I was about to format my phone but realized that I wanted to eternalize my memories whilst sharing it with as many people as possible.

3. Which is your favourite dessert & what makes you appreciate it?

Moist chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream icing! So yummy and universal! It is the perfect dessert after anything! Honestly, I only try other desserts for diversity. Also, everyone can bond over a decadent chocolate cake.

4. Should food blogging be just a passion or can it become a regular career?

You can turn any passion into a full-time career. Food, travel, and lifestyle influencing is no exception. Never give up and be as original and consistent as possible. There are many helpful people out there. Just be curious and always reach out when needed.

5. Which restaurants/food joints would you recommend to food lovers?

In Nagpur, I would recommend the local cuisine which is Saoji. You can try it at Shankar Saoji, Rahi Saoji or Sanju Saoji in Dhapewada which is on the outskirts of Nagpur. Nagpur is also famous for tarri poha at Keshav Poha and Ramji Shyamji. In Mumbai, I would recommend Anand Stall, Ghatkopar khau galli, K Rustom, Izumi, Carter's Blue, Leopolds, Jimi's Burger, Joey's or Eva's Pizza, Satish Sandwich in Malad West etc. I love regional cuisine and recommend everyone to try the region's best offerings first.

6. What does your typical day look like?

I have tastings Monday to Thursday for lunch and dinner. On weekends I like to cook at home. Make simple food. Breakfast is healthy every day.

7. Is there a dish you particularly associate yourself with?

I love street food, Japanese, Mughlai and Indian. But I keep my page versatile so that it has something for everyone. There is a special place in my stomach for food that is fresh, clean, presented well and smells good.
