The First Country to Educate People on LGBTQ: Scotland Took Another Progressive Step

Scotland has become the first country by taking a progressive step of teaching children about LGBTQIA+ in the school curriculum. A child will study in a deep narrative about same-sex marriage, anti-LGBT bullying, its history, personal identity, HIV/AIDS, and furthermore.

What Are the Guidelines Given? 

The education given to primary and secondary students should be age-appropriate teaching.

Children must realize that LGBTQ+ individuals and families exist and that they ought to be acknowledged like every other person. Kids ought to become familiar with this all through primary and secondary school. This imbibes kids with the value of not bullying people.

SECONDARY SCHOOL: 

• RSE should be instructed in all schools in England.
• Sexual direction and gender identity should be investigated at a convenient point 
• Same-sex relations should be explained through examples including talking about sound and stable connections.
• Schools ought to give attention to issues like regular sexism,  homophobia, and sex generalizations' and make a positive move to construct a culture where these are not endured.

PRIMARY SCHOOL: 

• Relationships Education must be provided in all schools of England
• It is suggested that schools share and give knowledge about Sex Education as well, even though they can decide not to.
• All schools should educate about various families, alongside families headed by grandparents, parents who belong to LGBTQ, single guardians, new parents, foster parents/carers, among other family structures.
• Overall, Schools should guarantee they consent to the significant arrangements of the Equality Act, 2010. This will help a child to understand the importance of equality and respect.
