Barog Railway Station - Most Haunted Railway Station

Shimla is a beautiful place with mesmerizing beauty. No wonder it is called the Queen of Hill Stations. The Shimla-Kalka route contains a 2-minute-long tunnel that runs straight. Once you emerge from the tunnel, you get to Barog railway station.

Aside from being a unique experience, there are also tales about the tunnel being haunted. Located in the Solan district of Himachal Pradesh, this little railway station has stories about the ghost of Colonel Barog, a British Railway Engineer.

In 1898 Colonel Barog shot himself at Barog Tunnel number 33 out of depression and humiliation as British Government has criticized him for the miscalculation he has made while aligning two tunnels.

He was so perturbed by this that he ended up shooting himself to death. One night while walking through a tunnel with his pet dog he shot himself dead.

Seeing his master bleed, the dog tried to get people's attention. However, by the time he got help from his master, he had already passed away. To honor his work, Barog was buried outside the unfinished tunnel.

However, locals believe that Barog never left. His spirit is still supposedly haunting the tunnel today.

It is believed natives have seen ghosts of Colonel Barog roaming around the city and the tunnel, conversing and sharing laughs with people, while others believe something mysterious, creepy & spoofy lurks in the tunnel.

They say that he is seen there and then disappears after a while. The government tried sealing the tunnel, but the lock broke each time.

Chittoor Station in Andhra Pradesh

It's the newest addition to the list of haunted railway stations in India. A few years ago, the Chittoor railway station was deserted in the evenings all of a sudden. People avoided it after dark.

In October 2013, a CRPF official named Hari Singh was attacked by RPF members and TTEs at the station, which was haunted by his ghost ever since. Hari Singh had gotten down at Chittoor railway station and was later injured during a fight that ensued.

He died shortly thereafter as the result of his injuries. This officer's spirit is said to still be searching for justice.

Naini Station, Uttar Pradesh

Although the severity of haunting right here is not as great as the other stations, people believe that the souls of the useless roam around the station and tracks after dark.

The Naini Central Prison or Naini Jail lies close to the Naini station. It became famous in the pre-independence era. Many great and well-known freedom fighters were imprisoned here during the Indian independence movement.

The freedom fighters had were tortured and finally died. There haven't been any reported sightings of figures or shadows here, but a ghostly presence has been felt here.

There is a possibility that these souls belong to the unfortunate freedom fighters who perished in Naini Jail. It is believed that these spirits are harmless, but their presence can be felt by the locals.

Ludhiana Station, Punjab

Ludhiana Junction railway station is a railway station located in the Ludhiana district in Punjab. It is among the busiest and cleanest railway stations in India.

Not the entire Ludhiana station but one room at the station is believed to be haunted. This room belonged to Subhash who was a Reservation Counter official. He took his last breath in this room.

It is believed that the man loved his job so much that his spirit still lingers within the room. Each time one has tried to sit in this room they have been hindered.

Dombivili Railway Station

Dombivli railway station is home to many ghost stories. The incident was reported once. A guy was waiting at the railway station for his train. A woman in her 40s or 50s, in a work-appropriate outfit, crossed his path.

Observing the lady, he noticed she was crying, so he asked her if he could help her out. She said she wanted to go home but couldn't. The guy somehow caught the train and went to his work.

The following day, he returned there around the same time, but this time with an accompanying friend. He saw the same woman on the same spot, still crying. He brought this to his friend's notice. The friend said that he did not see anyone over there.

There are enough reasons to consider this station one of the most haunted railway stations. There are definitely chills in these spooky tales.
