Synopsis - Spoiler Alert!

Under the guise of computer program developers and animation professionals, two sophisticated millennials (Dulquer and Rakshan) make a lot of money, but in reality, they are techie con artists who take advantage of contemporary technologies in industries like online shopping.

Their lives are going well until they meet two attractive young ladies (Ritu Varma and Niranjana). Both young lads are fascinated by the girls' honest way of life and vow to give up their technological misdeeds! All four of them have high goals and are going to Goa to establish a new life and business with the money they have saved up.

Meanwhile, our protagonists are being pursued by an upright cop (Gautham Menon) for their unsolved crimes. It is then revealed that, although Pratap was investigating the online electrical items scam and auto thefts, he had started tracking Meera and Shreya, who are far more notorious con artists than Siddharth and Kallis.

They travel to Chennai with no money in their pockets and use their 'criminal' minds to track down the girls. They track down the girls in Delhi, where Meera is posing as Ishita, a freelance room arrangement consultant, and confront them. The girls are shocked and return the money bag, but Siddharth suggests that they team up and share the money they take in the next venture.

Siddharth's deal is agreed upon by Madhu and Varsha. They decide to go for Sooraj Mehta, a wealthy, senior businessman who notices Madhu (as Ishita) in a meditation session. Varsha befriends Sooraj's wife in the gym as well.

 About the Director

Design Periyasamy is an Indian film director, who has worked predominantly in the Tamil movie industry. Design made his debut as a director with Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal. The movie received positive comments and responses from Kollywood audiences. He has additionally directed some short films.

Psychological Analysis

Design Periyasamy has created a delightful romantic comedy with enough witty moments to keep you interested until the ending. Even though the film is longer than the current trend of 120 minutes, it manages to keep us entertained.

Periyasamy's dialogues are clean and logical, and he cleverly incorporates surprising twists at the intermission, climax, and throughout the second half. On the negative, the second half has a few dull moments, but the conclusion makes up for it.

Dulquer is impressive in his portrayal of the carefree youngster who prefers brains to brawn. Rakshan, a newcomer, is a terrific find since he looks good on screen and cracks us up with one-liners. Ritu Varma has two very different looks throughout the film, which she pulls off beautifully. Niranjana also gave justice to her character. Gautham Menon steals the show with his elegant screen presence; his closing shot will be a scream in theatres.

It's also a movie that may have benefited from some better staging of the duller moments to retain the tension that comes with a film of this nature. We would have ended up with a considerably more entertaining, far more consistent film if the quality we witness in scenes like the one where Dulquer acquires a phone's unlocking code was maintained throughout. KKK is still a lot of fun in its current form, but it also needs a lot of patience.

The Bottom Line

The posters and video for newbie director Desingh Periyasamy's Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal suggested a romantic comedy, but it's the con element that adds the fun factor, and the finest part of the film is its unapologetic tone right from the start.

To be more specific, there is no rationalization or pushed emotions in the climax to give the characters a positive picture.

Overall, Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal is a fun ride with creative packaging and surprising twists and turns.
