Piyush Garg - For Me, It’s (Food Blogging) A Passion, Which Gives Me a Good Opportunity to Try Out New Cuisines and Meet People (Food Blogger from India)

Piyush Garg

When George Bernard Shaw said, "there is no sincere love than the love for food". Foodie in each one of us raised hand.

Just a guy looking for happiness in the fridge.

1. Please tell us about your background and journey

Born and bought up in Delhi, I have completed my graduation from Delhi University and currently pursuing a CA course.

My Instagram blog handle is 'kitchen_wheremagichappens'. Starting in April 2020, originally the idea of starting a blog came from my mother and hence the page name. Got the opportunity and time to give this idea a try during the lockdown and am really glad to be part of this community.

2. Which is your fav cuisine and dish?

North Indian cuisine and Delhi's street food has always been my first preference. Being vegetarian, tandoori starters and Bengali sweets top my list when it comes to cravings. Then in my list would always be Maharashtrian cuisines, for their love of spices. To name one dish has to be Pav Bhaji.

A big fan of always trying different cuisines wherever possible, nowadays fond of trying different continental platters and mocktails.

3. Should food blogging be just a passion or can it become a regular career?

Both. It has great potential to be your best hobby and a superb career.

For me, it's a passion, which gives me a good opportunity to try out new cuisines and meet people other than my commerce industry.

For those looking for a career, really feel it would be one of the top fields to choose from with current positive trends towards online marketing and digital developments. Just need to see where your heart lies.

4. Which restaurant/joint would you recommend to food lovers

One of the toughest questions to answer because it's tough to name a few. Being a Delhi boy, for me, the original taste resides in the streets of Old Delhi. Along with food, the vibes of our culture is strongly felt which makes it more special.

When it comes to restaurant and food joints, personally my favourites are Raftaar(Punjabi Bagh), Suribachi (fine dining in Malviya Nagar), laidback cafe (DLF avenue Saket) and Bhalla King (Lajpat Nagar).

5. What makes you appreciate a particular dish or a restaurant

With the current covid situation, hygiene and safety precautions are the first factors that decide whether to suggest an outlet to my audience.

Along with food quality and taste, multiple factors affect that decision. If it's a street food vendor, would suggest only if food is prepared in a safe environment and quality isn't compromised.

While suggesting a restaurant, a lot of importance is also given to the ambience and service towards the customers.

6. Is there a particular dish you associate with?

Definitely Blue lagoon. Those who even know me a little, are aware of my obsession with this particular mocktail. Love to try this out whenever available, already have a great collection of my data.

7. Which is your favourite book and why?

My fav book is "The test of my life: from cricket to cancer and back", the autobiography of Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh. It has always inspired me and made me believe a comeback is possible from any situation.
