Psychological Analysis
The image of Ambe represents every woman. Despite dating back to the era of Mahabharata, the character still resonates with every woman. She is that sweet innocent teenager who dreams of a beautiful life with her love. She expresses her desire to fall in love with the man of her dreams just like every woman.
Her life is unpredictable as well, as it has always been saying. Just before everything falls into place, Bheeshma breaks Salwa Raja's swayamvara and defeats him. She shows the kind of woman who chases her dreams no matter what when she tries to defend herself against marriage with Vichitraveerya.
Despite being left shattered when Salwa Raja rejects her, she is an example of a woman who makes the best of what is left as she decides to marry Bheeshma. As she threatens revenge against Bheeshma, she is a mirror to all women who take action against their suffering.
After she narrates that she is unhappy about her life since all it has been being revenge, she represents the mature woman who has grown up. A beautiful, bold, courageous, and dedicated woman, Ambe represents different shades of women at various ages.
Famous Quotes
“ Bicchuvudu haridogeyuvudu bau sulabha, todisuvudiddare banni toduge ee harida maige odeda kanasugalige”
A broken and disheartened Ambe says this at the end of the play. In her narrative, she mentions that it is easier to destroy things than make them. In addition, she depicts that no one is courageous enough to bring light into a dark situation.
Even when she is rejected by everyone, Ambe still stands her ground. It doesn't matter what anyone says. It takes courage to believe that she is right. However, even when the world condemns her actions, she is still able to tell the world that just because many accept it does not mean it is right.
The Bottom Line
Drama is a beautiful thing in that it is enjoyed live. Live performances evoke the emotions of the audience. So you should never miss watching at least one live performance during your lifetime. Additionally, this keeps your memory fresh as they cannot be viewed whenever needed, as opposed to other genres.
