Introduction
Book Name: The Wall of Winnipeg and Me
Author – Mariana Zapata
Genre –Contemporary Romance, Fiction
Language – English
Synopsis- Non-Spoiler Alert!
Vanessa Mazur is a strong-headed person who is not so easy to sway. She has ambitions and dreams for a better life under any circumstance and she is willing to sacrifice her sleep for it.
She is the epitome of a person with an iron will and she is determined to live her life better than that was provided by her mother and sisters who were unwelcoming and held some unknowing grudge against her. She works as an assistant/ housekeeper for Aiden Graves, the top defensive end in the National Football Organization famously known as The Wall of Winnipeg.
Aiden’s love is limited to his grandparents and football. Football is the only thing Aiden looks forward to and works hard towards. It is more than just a sport to him; it is his passion and the only thing he knows to do well. Two years that’s how long Vanessa has worked for him and in these two years, he had not even remotely shown interest in her.
He is a reticent person and emotions don’t come easily to him. But when circumstances change the dawn brings new choices and opportunities and the night proves to be a tiresome loop of difficult decisions, Vanessa and Aiden choose their destiny.

Self Analysis
The Wall of Winnipeg is just not a take on two people’s romantic life but it also gives us a sneak into their past that shaped their future and made them who they are. Neither Vanessa nor Aiden had a supportive family to begin with. They were both victims of abuse and had a dysfunctional family.
But where Vanessa tried to live the life of her dreams to full potential with her best friend by her side enjoying every aspect of her life Aiden was withdrawn from the world. Even being so famous his world was reserved and football received his unflinching attention. They both navigate their life differently and unfortunate circumstances force them to be together but one can never escape from the clutches of love and it was held in their situation too.
Besides the love story of the two most amazing, hardworking, and loyal characters we also get a glimpse of another character like Vanessa’s best friend. Violence in relationships and the uncertainty that surrounds the women who suffer the abuse and the difficulty they go through in speaking of the abuse is also given space in the commendable book. Violence and trauma in a different form are mentioned in the book and the support, the hope to which one tethers to is also shown.
