It is always said that “Do what makes you happy” or “Follow your heart” but do we personally follow all these sayings? Are we able to adapt these in our day-to-day lives? and most importantly how much time do we give to ourselves out of a 24-hour long day?
I am sure that most of you do not have the time for self-grooming.
Taking time for yourself is the main task of your life, if you do it, you are already among the 5% of people who are successful. There is no doubt that being creative and intelligent requires cognitive skills, the ability to resist things and emotional stability. While learning a new thing, we learn to adapt to the things related to it and thus it develops our mind overall.
What Do Successful People Have in Common?
While learning about the people who are successful and rich, we will get to know all of them to have one thing in common, that is, they take out time to do at least one activity that enhances their thinking ability, and relaxes their mind so that they will be able to think more productively after that activity.
Consider the example of the ex-CEO of Amazon, Jeff Bezos. He is in the news very often and all of us must have heard about his life schedule. What does he do other than work for Amazon? In an interview he opened up about his hobbies, stating that he loves horse riding and travelling.
Next, we have the CEO of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk. Many articles reveal he has a keen interest in playing video games, spending time with his sons, reading a lot of books and watching Anime.
Here, we see the successful people or millionaires, amongst their strict time schedules and thousands of tasks, take out time and do one or two things which they actually like to have a feeling of self-worth and consider themselves supreme in their life.
Thus we classify the most popular hobbies in the following manner:
1. Reading Books
We grew up listening to this- “Books are our best friends”. We should inculcate a habit of reading in our daily life, for about half an hour. Reading books not only improves our vocabulary, but reading habit helps us to build communication skills and productivity along with good vocabulary.
All the successful people out there have something on their feed to read even when they are travelling to someplace. We also must have seen a lot of influencers reading books or our favourite actors/actresses carrying books on their way to the airport. Reading habit evokes curiosity and a sense to learn new things in a better way, and also improves our visualization power as we read on and on.
2. Learning to Play a Musical Instrument
When we talk about playing a musical instrument, the music goes hand in hand. From talking about historical people such as Alexander Graham Bell to the very famous Warren Buffet, we conclude all of them know to play one or more musical instruments. Alexander Graham Bell played the Piano and Warren Buffet loves to play the Ukulele.
From a very young age, they grasped this habit of learning a musical instrument. Playing musical instruments is not only an addition to your hobby but it also builds confidence and personality. Apart from them, you may get many fans out there who are impressed by your instrument playing skills.
3. Learning a New Language
This is my personal favourite skill. Learning a new language, especially those which are trending and in demand will help you to be consistent and increase your memory power. Learning a new language will also be a plus point if you wish to get into a company for the purpose of a Job, you might be considered well among other candidates.
You can also build a career out of it, like being a tutor for the same language and translators are also in huge demand nowadays. It improves your communication as well as your pragmatic approach. Knowing languages such as French, German, etc should be on your priority list if you are willing to become a successful entrepreneur.
4. Meditating Regularly
It is said that “Get out of your head and get into your heart, Think less and feel more."
The thought clarifies everything. To sustain a dynamic lifestyle, we need a calm mindset that is free from any sort of distractions. Meditation brings your thoughts to the top and it helps to calm your body and soul.
Successful people have their mindset and goal very clear which is why they are where they deserve. We can’t make decisions if our mind is in a hurry and eventually this is not a trait of an entrepreneur and business leader. Thus inculcating this habit for even 5 minutes a day could bring peace to your life.
5. Brainstorming or Working Out Your Brain
Yes, exercising is essential to shape our mind and body and bring physical strength but what about your brain? It works the whole day and still, we overlook it. We should think of doing some activities that relax our brains.
Games such as sudoku, wordle and crossword help to increase concentration and keeps the kid inside you. The small games are a small challenge that we take up every day to shape our minds.
Upbringing these habits into your day-to-day life will make a big difference in your lifestyle and you will be more refreshed from your tiring lifestyle. Hopefully, you will be one of those entrepreneurs who inculcate these hobbies into your day-to-day lifestyle!
