I created my brand by posting regularly, engaging on posts of other creators, making an account on different social media platforms, connecting with genuine professionals, and never sharing controversial content. There are many creators who copy-paste each and every content they post on their social media profiles which is not good
1. Tell us about your background and journey.
I’m a Freelance content writer, LinkedIn profile optimisation expert, Resume Writer, Copywriter, and Social Media Manager having 31,000+ followers on LinkedIn.
I started my Freelance journey 2 years back when I was 18. Worked 15+ hours every day and developed my skills.
Never liked spoon-feeding. That's why I never did any kind of courses, researched, and learned everything from Google and LinkedIn.
With experience, my writing style got better and now I have completed 350+ projects.
2. How and when did you decide that you wanted to be a creator and freelancer? Any experience which you would like to share?
I did 4 internships together in the beginning of my journey, I felt like my growth is not in my control.
I wanted to have control over my growth, I wanted to be very fast so I chose Freelance.
Everyone has different goals so it’s not compulsory that everyone has to choose freelancing. I always wanted to be a brand, never wanted to be in control of someone.
You can learn about a particular field after getting some experience. When I got my first freelance project, I didn't even know that this was freelancing.
With time I learned about different terms and developed in my field. You don’t have to know everything about your field from the beginning.
3. How and where do you find inspiration to churn out content while writing on LinkedIn?
Earlier, I did not know what to post on LinkedIn. Once I got confidence, I started posting different types of engaging content.
My posts were relatable and creative, I always wanted to be authentic.
I posted about my experiences, learnings, journeys, polls, infographics, memes, quotes, motivational content, and more.
People started showing interest in my posts, still I experiment with my posts.
4. How did you create your brand?
I created my brand by posting regularly, engaging on posts of other creators, making an account on different social media platforms, connecting with genuine professionals, and never sharing controversial content.
There are many creators who copy-paste each and every content they post on their social media profiles which is not good.
You need to share about yourself too but that doesn’t mean you’ll share your personal information or sensitive information.
I created my profile on different social media posts. Mainly focused on LinkedIn because it’s one of the best platforms for personal branding.
Posted regularly on LinkedIn, engaged on posts of others. Created a network of like-minded people, made genuine connections.
5. How would you best explain freelancing to an ameature?
Freelance is something that requires a lot of hard work, ambitious nature, determination, sacrifices, time management skills, communication skills, negotiation skills, concentration, and will power.
Freelance is not something every person can do because your income is not fixed. If you are not able to get leads then you’ll end up earning nothing in a month.
You should know how to get leads, how to do personal branding, and how to work in stressful situations.
6. What was your biggest source of motivation at that time when you just started with LinkedIn and you didn't see any results?
The biggest motivation for me when I just started with LinkedIn and didn't see any results were my goals.
My goals motivated me to never stop, keep trying, and focus on learning. Moreover, I had nothing to lose so I never stopped. I was confident that one day I’ll also have a huge number of followers.
We all start from zero, you don’t have to feel bad if you don’t have knowledge about something. Just focus on developing yourself every day.
7. Any advice/lesson that you would like to share with the one who wants to become a creator on LinkedIn?
I would like to say that you’ll not always get good views, likes, and comments on your posts because you can’t always understand the LinkedIn algorithm.
You need to post almost every day, show up every day, take a break from work when necessary, and upskill.
If you can’t post regularly then at least engage in the posts of others. Don’t completely ghost yourself from LinkedIn, people will forget you easily because there are lakhs of other creators.
8. What role did internships play in your career? What's your message to encourage students to do internships and attend seminars and webinars?
With the help of internships, people can know what’s good for them and what’s bad for them. They can gain real industry knowledge with the help of internships.
You should do internships because the information which you’ll get will be valuable for your growth.
Always prefer paid internships because you are doing some work. If you will not value your work then don’t expect others to value your work.
There’s no nobility in working for free, you need to grow by charging the amount you deserve according to your skills.
