Kundalini – An Untold Story, talks about the real story of kundalini, the formless aspect of the Goddess, and how She exists in each one of us through our latent energy. This book is the experience of a monk getting in touch with that latent energy, and being the ultimate energy himself.

Om Swami is a well-known spiritual leader and has authored fifteen bestsellers. He is a mystic being living in the Himalayan foothills. Founder of the Black Lotus App and Os.me, Om Swami has influenced millions to experience the true form of happiness in its purest form.

Before Om Swami’s renunciation of this world, he was the founder of a multi-millionaire IT company. But somewhere, his keen interest in spirituality pushed him to take a pause from the material world and explore what spirituality is in its sense. He has documented his experiences with meditation for over 15,000 hours in his famous work A Million Thoughts.

Om Swami describes himself as ‘I am a simple sadhu in a complex world’. And that is exactly what his work reflects; simplicity of spirituality. He says that his writings are his only introduction and encourage people worldwide to not follow him or anyone else; he says to devote ourselves to the Divine in us. His philosophy continues to be compassion and love.

The Origin Of Kundalini Meditation

The book starts with the story of King Daksha and the infamous yajna that he hosted but didn’t invite Lord Shiva. Starting from there and ending with the life of Ved Vyas, this book is written with utmost precision and authenticity. This book comes out to be a crisp and fun read, rather than the presumption of being a heavy one.

The author talks about his own experiences in the first part of the book as well. How he entered the world of spirituality and how it took him years to discover the real and ultimate truth. For anyone who feels that the idea of spirituality and meditation is too foggy to be reliable, this book is for you. The personal experiences of the author are what makes this book a different one.

Although these stories have too many versions and it is hard to choose which to believe, after reading this book, you are thoroughly convinced that this story narrates what actually would’ve happened.

No Sugar Coating; Simply The Truth

Many influencers and public figures sugarcoat the idea of meditation and how it is a bed of roses. You would’ve heard how meditation makes you feel calm and peaceful all at once. The author tells the experience, which is surprisingly the opposite of such conventional ideas.

The author talks about how tears kept trickling down his face when he first started meditating. He talks about how exhausting and frustrating was it at first and negative feelings didn’t leave his side for a long time. Self-doubt, frustration, anger, greed, and so on; the author experienced it all in his journey.

Om Swami communicated a very important thing through this; that meditation is not done to avoid negative feelings, it is done to accept and overcome the negative feelings. The first one will experience during this journey is a tsunami of distractions and negativity. This journey aims to accept them as a part of human nature and overcome them in the process of devoting yourself to the Divine energy in you.

My Point Of View

For me, reading this book felt like therapy. There was no false idea of any religious beliefs or the magical effect of meditation. The author’s writing had a straightforward tone, which felt like talking to a friend. His touch of humor in his writing makes you smile many times, while his description of spiritual experiences might overwhelm you with joy and curiosity.

In the beginning, the journey of Kundalini might sound too good to be true, but the author encourages you to keep that thought till the end of the book and see it change into faith.

Also, in the second section of the book, very realistic ways to meditate we communicated, along with suggested habits and diet to facilitate your journey. The author has done his best to construct a time frame for all to complete their journey; which makes his writing more authentic and believable.

Overall Rating – 5/5
