But due to the URI attack in 2016, the government of India stopped broadcasting all the Pakistani channels on Indian television. Since then the source of watching Pakistani series or dramas is either ott platforms Ozee or youtube. It is recorded that of the views that come on youtube on Pakistani dramas, a large percentage are due to the Indian audience. And in fact, not only Indians, but many more countries like Nepal and Bangladesh are also becoming huge fans of Pakistani series.
Pakistani dramas are certainly more engaging in comparison to Indian serials which sometimes create unrealistic expectations also. Collectively many factors were created due to which the inclination towards Pakistani dramas increased. During lockdown in 2020 while most people were free they started watching Pakistani dramas and not only it was binge-watched by many, lockdown was the main reason for people watching Pakistani dramas and getting addicted to them.
They don't Stretch for Years and Years
Unlike Indian serials. Pakistani dramas are not dragged on for years. instead, they come with a short span of period like 2-3 months. An Indian serial comes on-screen for an average of 2 years due to which the storyline is unnecessarily stretched, deteriorating the quality of content. People start losing interest after a point of time due to this.
Quality of Content

A well-known fact is that ‘quality matters over quantity’, the Pakistani drama industry took it very well. The quality of content shown in the Pakistani industry is something that everyone relates with and it shows the real image of the society. People connect with Pakistani dramas in their real life, unlike Indian serials where sometimes unrealistic scenes are also shown.
Social Issues
The Pakistani drama industry is more focused on showing dramas related to social issues present in society. It shows what things are actually going on in Pakistan such as cousin marriage, and the actual position of women in homes and societies. Though nothing is perfect, they also do have some flaws but unlike Indian serials like Uttaran, and Balika Vadhu which also addressed social issues but down the line they also got involved in typical saas-bahu serials which neglected their impact.
Particular Scenes not Dragged on for Weeks
If a particular scene in an Indian serial for instance a wedding season it would be dragged on for weeks and the storyline would do no improvement, unlike Pakistani dramas where that particular scene would be done in 2-3 episodes but with beautiful presentation. These small things make the Pakistani industry stand out differently from Indian serials.
True Depiction of Love and Romance

The Pakistani serials portray true romance and love. They show romance and love through subtle gestures that are realistic with which the Indian and in fact, everyone connects and likes. They more often show romance with eye contact rather than relying on exaggerated gestures. They particularly focus on the development of relationships between the lead characters.
No Lavish Mansions or Exaggerated Music
It is often seen in Indian serials that the characters who are middle class also live in lavish mansions which is not true in reality, but the Pakistani characters often live in real houses which is possible in the real life world. Also, the background music which is shown during a particular scene in Indian serials makes the scene unrealistic. Though it adds to interest at times it loses the seriousness of the situation. In contrast to that Pakistani dramas add effectiveness to the beautiful Urdu dialogues.
Closure
Though both industries have audience engagement in their respective fields, Indian people from 2020 are more inclined towards Pakistani dramas due to their realistic and beautifully written dramas.
Not only Indians but people from the middle east are also now seeing Pakistani dramas and the views the drama gets on youtube has the majority of its viewers other than Pakistan. One of the main reasons why people also love these serials is the beautiful Urdu language in which the show is made
