Kanchana Banerjee - Follow Your Heart And Read What Gives You Joy (Author From India)

I enjoy reading thrillers the most. I also love reading sagas. Currently, I'm reading "The Covenant of Water." Such a brilliant book.

1. What has your journey been like so far?

The journey so far has been great! I have published with reputed publishers like Harper Collins & Om Books. My books have been very well received and appreciated.

2. When did you realize your love for literature/writing? And who is that one author who's an ideal to you?

I have always been fond of writing, as far as I can remember. I always wanted to write and get published. I began with working with The Statesman in Kolkata, then Times of India in Hyderabad. Getting my 1st book happened much later. I have many favorite authors. Some names are - Jeffrey Archer, Gillian Flynn, Mary Kubica, Alice Feeney.

3. As a writer, what are your preferred genres? And what genres do you like reading the most?

I enjoy reading thrillers the most. I also love reading sagas. Currently, I'm reading "The Covenant of Water." Such a brilliant book.

4. On a lighter note, amidst your varied experiences, do you have a favorite writing spot or ritual that helps you get into the creative zone? Any quirky writing habits or rituals you'd like to share?

I prefer to sit in my room and write. I don't need to go away to fancy locations. Just my study table, and my laptop, and I'm good. Yes, I do have a quirky habit. I like to dust my table, the books stacked on one side, clean the table, and then sit down to write.

5. Being a writing coach, what advice would you give to aspiring writers about dealing with writer's block?

When in doubt, read writing help books. Some very good writing help books can help you get out of the block.

6. What are some books you absolutely love and would encourage others to give them a read as well?

Read whatever you enjoy reading. What I enjoy may not be what you like. So, don't follow lists. Follow your heart and read what gives you joy. Reading is a joyful experience and not a task. Just read what you like.
