1. Tell us about your background and journey

I am an Architect & Urban Designer by profession wearing lots of hats otherwise - Architect & Partner at Upscale Architects & Educator at Archea. Spatial Design has always left an indelible mark on me since I can remember. 

With the intent to create a space that truly belongs, we try to leave the same impact on our clients' lives through our designs at our Upscale Headquarters.

2. How do you balance function with the aesthetic appeal of a building

As architects, we are always searching for the right balance between the form and function of a space. For me, it all lies in understanding what the client’s vision is, and what they are looking for in the project. When it comes to residential projects, we carefully consider spatial organization, material, and interior finishes that are aesthetically appealing as well as functional.

We are always looking to create something that inspires us and our clients. And achieving functionality while doing so is always a good challenge!

 

3. How can one identify and appreciate good architecture

While there isn’t any such thing as a “bad” design, a good design will always leave a lasting impact on you.

 

4. How do you stay up to date with the trends in the design industry

Staying up to date with trends in the design industry is important, but it is not the sole focus. While trends come and go, a project is built for a lifetime. Blindly following them is not a meaningful approach.

We are always on the lookout for the latest innovations in materials, automation, design and building techniques through events happening around the world.

 

5. What are your Tips for people who want to renovate their homes

When deciding to renovate a home, there are two important questions to ask yourself. First one being - what is the purpose of the renovation. Is it due to space constraints or purely aesthetics? The second question is - budget. Both these are deciding factors in the decision-making process.

The first step would be to understand what you really want your space to be like, give yourself enough time to understand your personal style, your requirements and communicate it to the designer. Only then your home will become a true reflection of you.
