Amaan Parkar- We Choose Real Stories, Especially Those Unheard Of, Making It The Unique Selling Point (Storyteller and Influencer with 530+ Followers From India)

Always treat your audience with respect and be mindful of your words when speaking in front of the camera. A single wrong statement can have long-lasting consequences for your career. Remember, the audience is king.

1. What inspired you to become a content creator, and how did your journey in this field begin?

I just completed my graduation in June with a bachelor's in management studies (marketing). Like any other graduate, the common question arose about pursuing an MBA. I decided to take a different path and asked for three months to try something. If it didn't work out, I promised to pursue an MBA. Always fascinated by the paranormal and mystery world since childhood, I started making videos on horror. By the end of June, I had 1.5 lakh followers, and the positive response encouraged me to pursue storytelling as a career. Currently, I have over 5 lakh followers on Instagram and 1 lakh on YouTube.

2. When dealing with historical events or sensitive mysteries, how do you ensure ethical storytelling and avoid misrepresentation?

Yes, this is a critical aspect. For historical or sensitive content, we avoid adding our own commentary even if the video seems boring. If the video's interest is affected due to the nature of historical or mystery content, we focus on enhancing the storytelling style and editing to maintain the authenticity of the story and avoid misrepresentation.

3. What techniques or elements do you emphasize to ensure your narratives maintain suspense and authenticity?

The technique that works in the mystery/horror genre is the way you narrate the story and direct the audience towards the suspense/climax. We choose real stories, especially those unheard of, making it the unique selling point of our YouTube channel. Personally, I create a proper script, strategically adding suspense and closures to keep the audience engaged. Directly narrating a story without marking suspense renders it ineffective.

4. Can you share significant insights gained through your experience as a storyteller that has positively impacted you?

Being a storyteller requires calmness, impacting me positively. While narrating in person or in front of the camera, maintaining calmness is crucial. This experience has transformed me from being hot-headed in college to a more serene person. The only negative impact is occasional sleep disturbance due to writing/researching horror stories late at night.

5. What advice would you give to aspiring content creators?

Success in this field will come either today or tomorrow. Always treat your audience with respect and be mindful of your words when speaking in front of the camera. A single wrong statement can have long-lasting consequences for your career. Remember, the audience is king.

6. What is a book you love and would recommend our readers to give it a try?

I'm not a big fan of books, but if you enjoy horror stories, try reading "That Night" by Nidhi Upadhyay. I loved reading it.
