That shift from pursuing things based on what I could get out of it to now shining a light on Jesus and who He is changed everything for me |
1. Tell us about your background and journey.
As someone who’s lived in a lot of places growing up as a child, I had to get used to change at a young age. I’ve lived in Ohio, Florida, Hawaii, and now California. I believe that having to meet new people often and see how different communities live is part of the reason why I like having a change of scenery and going on adventures as an adult.
My career really suits that because life working in film, tv, and fashion looks different each and every day for me. Before I became a Mom, I was constantly on the go and discovering new places depending on what city I was working in on that particular day. Being a transplant in LA, that’s what helped me to become familiar with different cities and navigate through Southern California (sometimes even better than my husband who grew up here).
2. When did you first decide that you wanted to create content and how did you start?
I’ve always been coming up with stories, plays, poems, etc ever since I was a young girl, but I had my first taste of producing content on social media when I was getting my degree in Television Production in college. I started a YouTube channel mainly to goof around and play with acting, editing, and making people laugh. I had no idea that would come back around when my daughter was a newborn and my acting career was put on hold. I came back to YouTube and started sharing my life as a mom. Soon after that, I discovered a passion for sharing the story of my faith and walk with Jesus. That was really the catalyst for me building a constant platform while also fulfilling a love of talking to people and helping people on the internet that I might never meet in real life.
3. What impact do you want to make in the world?
At the end of 2017, I was really burnt out on making content and feeling like I wasn’t getting anywhere. My desire was to grow numbers, and—most content creators will tell you—that is a great way to lose interest and get overwhelmed when you don’t find monetary success early on.
I asked God what He wanted from me, and He simply said: “Share Me with the world.” That shift from pursuing things based on what I could get out of it to now shining a light on Jesus and who He is changed everything for me. The impact I want to make is helping more people know Jesus and the amazing way He can change your life if you truly trust and follow Him.
4.I see that you are an author. Did you publish any book?
Yes, I have. I started and stopped books when I was a teenager writing non-fiction stories at the time, but I’d lose interest after the first few chapters. Since then, I picked that passion back up to write my first Christian devotional at the end of 2019 titled “Grow With God: 31 Day Devotional”.
I self-published that one, but—because of that book—I received three different Christian devotional book deals with a publisher between 2021-2022 with topics ranging from pregnancy, postpartum depression, and mother/daughter relationships (the last one is yet to come out). You can find more information about my books on my website.
5.What does your typical day look like?
On top of being a content creator and author, I’m also a homeschooling mom. My day looks different each day, but normally it revolves around getting some work done before my kids wake up, taking care of them throughout the day and completing homeschool lessons. My husband works from home, and it’s important for us to spend time together and work together to take care of the kids throughout the day.
That includes going to playgrounds, going to church, having fun at theme parks, going to the movies, watching our favorite tv shows, hanging out at the beach, etc. We always end our days with dinner as a family and Bible study and prayer each night.
6. Which is your favorite book and why?
For me, it doesn’t get better than the Bible. I love that there is always something in Scripture that can guide you through any challenges you may be facing and also offer so much encouragement. With the things going on in the world right now, that’s crucial for us.
