Renu Karnawat - The Vision and Impact Of The Sanjay Education And Welfare Society "Transforming Lives" (Founder - NGO Organisation)

"At the Sanjay Education and Welfare Society, we believe every child deserves a chance to shine"

1. Can you tell us a bit about your background and what inspired you to start your NGO?

I grew up in Udaipur, Rajasthan, where I witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by underserved communities, particularly in education and welfare. My background is deeply rooted in a passion for social service and community development. Inspired by the resilience and potential of the people around me, I founded the Sanjay Education and Welfare Society. Our mission is to provide quality education and welfare services to those in need, empowering individuals to build better futures for themselves and their families. Through our NGO, we aim to create lasting, positive change in our community.

2. What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced while running the NGO, and how have you overcome them?

Running the Sanjay Education and Welfare Society has been both rewarding and challenging. One of the biggest challenges we've faced is securing consistent funding to support our programs. Financial stability is crucial for sustaining our initiatives, and we've overcome this by diversifying our funding sources. We've built partnerships with local businesses, applied for grants, and launched fundraising campaigns to ensure a steady flow of resources.

Another challenge is reaching the most marginalized communities who often lack access to education and welfare services. To address this, we've implemented community outreach programs and collaborated with local leaders to identify and support those in need. By building trust and fostering strong relationships within these communities, we've been able to extend our reach and impact.

Additionally, maintaining a motivated and dedicated team is essential. We've invested in volunteer training and development, ensuring that our team members are well-equipped to handle the demands of our work. Recognizing and celebrating their contributions has also helped in keeping morale high and fostering a sense of community within our organization.

4. How does your NGO approach education, and what unique programs or methods have you implemented to ensure quality learning?

At the Sanjay Education and Welfare Society, we believe that quality education is the foundation for a better future. Our approach to education is holistic, focusing on not just academic learning but also the overall development of our students. Here are some unique programs and methods we’ve implemented to ensure quality learning:

Customized Learning Programs: We understand that every child is unique, with different learning needs and paces. Our customized learning programs are tailored to cater to individual student needs, ensuring that no one is left behind.

Interactive Teaching Methods: To make learning more engaging and effective, we use interactive teaching methods such as group discussions, hands-on activities, and educational games. This helps in making the learning process enjoyable and memorable.

Digital Literacy: In today's digital age, being digitally literate is crucial. We provide computer education and access to digital resources to help students develop essential digital skills.

After-School Tutoring: Many students need extra help outside of regular school hours. Our after-school tutoring programs offer additional support in subjects where students may be struggling, ensuring they can keep up with their peers.

Life Skills Education: Education is not just about academics. We incorporate life skills education into our curriculum to teach students important skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork.

Parental Involvement: We actively involve parents in their children’s education through regular meetings and workshops. This helps in creating a supportive home environment that reinforces the importance of education.

Scholarship Programs: To support underprivileged students, we offer scholarship programs that cover tuition fees, books, and other educational expenses. This ensures that financial constraints do not hinder a child’s education.

Community Libraries: We have set up community libraries to provide students with access to a wide range of books and learning materials. This encourages reading and self-learning among children.

By implementing these programs and methods, we strive to create an environment where students can thrive and achieve their full potential. Our goal is to equip them with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in life and contribute positively to society.

5. What drives your passion for the NGO's mission, and how do you see your organization transforming lives in the coming years?

My passion for the Sanjay Education and Welfare Society's mission stems from a deep-rooted commitment to uplifting our community. Witnessing the transformative power of education and welfare services fuels my dedication. In the coming years, I envision our organization expanding its reach, providing more comprehensive educational programs, and fostering sustainable development. We aim to empower individuals with the skills and knowledge to break the cycle of poverty, ultimately transforming lives and creating a ripple effect of positive change throughout Udaipur and beyond.

6. Can you recount a particular moment or story where your NGO made a profound difference in someone’s life?

One story that stands out is of a young girl named Meera from a remote village near Udaipur. Meera was a bright student but had to drop out of school due to financial constraints and family responsibilities. Our team reached out to her family, provided a scholarship, and enrolled her in our after-school tutoring program.

With the support of the Sanjay Education and Welfare Society, Meera not only resumed her education but also excelled in her studies. She went on to win a district-level academic competition and received a full scholarship for higher education. Today, Meera is pursuing her dream of becoming a teacher, determined to give back to her community. Her journey from dropping out to becoming a role model is a testament to the profound difference our NGO can make in someone's life.
