1. Can you share a bit about your journey and how you became a digital creator and Beauty Crown Winner?
I have always had a deep admiration for fashion and beauty products. During my college days, many of my juniors and colleagues showed immense interest in my outfits, accessories, and hairstyles. To share my passion, I created a WhatsApp group where I offered fashion and beauty advice to my college buddies.
Encouraged by friends, I decided to create a platform to showcase my style—simple, accessible, wearable fashion with a touch of elegance and modern vintage. This led to the birth of “Chick and Chique.”
In 2016, a friend suggested I enter a beauty contest. Initially hesitant due to my lack of confidence, I eventually decided to try my luck. The contest, VLCC Power of Change, was in Kolkata, and after three rounds of selection, I emerged as the winner. The judges included renowned personalities like Usha Uthup and Agni Mitra Paul.
2. How do you navigate and influence beauty standards in today's digital age?
I strongly believe in the concept of “beauty within.” A healthy mind, soul, and body significantly enhance external beauty. No amount of makeup can compensate for poor health or an unsettled mind.
On social media, where many things are often not real, I strive to keep my appearance and beauty standards authentic. I openly discuss my insecurities, such as weight gain, stretch marks, and pigmentation, to promote body positivity. However, I believe body positivity should not justify an unhealthy lifestyle. It means loving your body and taking necessary steps to maintain good health, regardless of shape or size.
Mental health and its impact on our bodies also need attention. My mantra is to pursue activities that bring happiness without harming oneself or others.
3. What strategies do you use to maintain and grow your personal brand on social media?
Perseverance is key. Consistency, quality, and engaging content are crucial for building a strong presence on social media. It takes time to grow, and showing up every day is essential. Constant interaction with the audience helps understand their preferences and strengthens the connection with them.
4. What are your future goals and aspirations in the beauty and digital creation industries?
The concept of “beauty” has evolved significantly in the past five years. There's a growing focus on organic beauty, with people and celebrities embracing freckles, bare skin, and minimal makeup.
I aim to promote organic beauty standards that are relatable and achievable. I advocate for minimalistic living and the philosophy that "less is more" in both beauty and fashion.
5. If you could swap lives with any other digital creator or celebrity for a day, who would it be and why?
I would choose Radhika Devlukia. Her luxurious yet minimalistic lifestyle fascinates me, and I find her approach to life incredibly fulfilling.
