Being appreciated by strangers for something created from your own personality never stops feeling special

Q. Your content feels very natural and expressive - were you always comfortable in front of the camera, or did that confidence develop over time?

Honestly, I’ve always been someone who enjoyed performing and expressing myself publicly. During my college days, I actively participated in several intercollegiate events - debates, speeches, stage performances, and anything that allowed me to step onto a stage and interact with an audience. Performing was always something I genuinely loved.

So when I eventually started creating content, being in front of a camera didn’t feel unfamiliar to me. In fact, I always viewed Instagram as a stage in its own way. Behind every camera, I imagined an audience - people watching, listening, and connecting with what I was putting out into the world. I’ve always loved the energy of performing, the excitement of having people engage with me, and the feeling of being able to communicate something through expression and storytelling. For me, the camera simply became a medium that connected me to that larger stage. Because of that mindset, I naturally became very comfortable in front of the camera. I genuinely enjoy putting myself out there, expressing myself creatively, and sharing my personality openly with people.

Q. What’s the most unexpected opportunity or experience social media has brought into your life so far?

One of the most special experiences social media has given me is being recognised by people in real life. Every single time someone comes up to me and says, “Hey, you’re Nithyasri, right? I love your videos,” it genuinely makes me incredibly happy.

There have been several moments where people have recognised me because of my content and started talking about their favourite videos, my editing style, or how much they enjoy watching my reels. And honestly, every time that happens, it feels surreal in the best possible way. I think the most beautiful part about it is the sense of connection. Knowing that people not only watch my content but also genuinely enjoy and remember it feels extremely rewarding as a creator.

Being appreciated by strangers for something you’ve created from your own personality and creativity is an experience that never stops feeling special. It reminds me why I started creating content in the first place.

Q. A lot of creators struggle with balancing real life and online life - how do you personally handle that balance?

Honestly, I think balancing online life and real life is something every creator continuously learns over time. In the beginning, it definitely felt overwhelming for me too.

There were moments when I would experience creative blocks and completely stop posting for a week or even longer. During those phases, I would focus more on my personal life, the things I was dealing with emotionally, or situations happening around me offline. Initially, maintaining that balance was difficult because social media can sometimes consume a lot of your mental space. But over time, I’ve slowly started understanding how to manage it better.

I wouldn’t say I’ve perfectly figured it out yet because I still think I’m in the process of learning. But I’m definitely becoming more aware of making sure my online life doesn’t negatively affect my personal life - and vice versa.

For me, balance is still an evolving process rather than something completely mastered.

Q. When you create content, do you think more about what the audience wants or what genuinely represents your personality?

I would definitely say I focus more on representing myself authentically. If I constantly start thinking only about what the audience wants or what will perform better online, I feel like I’ll eventually lose the opportunity to genuinely showcase who I am as a person. And for me, that authenticity matters a lot.

I want my content to feel raw, real, and unfiltered rather than overly curated just to please people. I think audiences connect far more deeply when they see the genuine version of a creator rather than a personality that feels manufactured for social media. Of course, I do think about my audience while creating content. I consider whether something will be relatable, enjoyable, or unintentionally offensive. Those thoughts naturally exist in the back of my mind.

But at the core of it, content creation for me is about expressing my true personality, emotions, and perspectives honestly. I want people following me to connect with me - not a carefully constructed version designed only for validation.

Q. What’s one misconception people usually have about influencers or content creators that you wish they understood better?

One major misconception people often have is that content creators are somehow expected to tolerate every form of negativity simply because they post themselves online.

Constructive criticism is completely understandable, and honestly, I genuinely appreciate feedback that helps me improve. But there’s a very clear difference between criticism and unnecessary hate. A lot of people hide behind anonymous usernames or fake accounts and leave extremely harsh, vulgar, or hateful comments without realizing that creators are human beings too. Even though we try to handle it maturely, those comments can still affect us mentally.

People often assume creators should simply ignore it or not care about it at all, but that’s not always realistic. Even if there are forty positive comments, sometimes that one hateful comment still stays in your mind. I think many people forget that creators also have emotions, insecurities, and difficult days just like everyone else. Being visible online doesn’t automatically make someone immune to negativity.

Q. If you had to describe your personality outside Instagram in just three words, what would they be?

Firstly, I would say fun. I genuinely think I’m someone who brings a lot of energy and enjoyment into the spaces I’m part of.

Secondly, energetic. I naturally thrive in positive environments, and I think I carry and spread a lot of enthusiastic energy around the people I’m with.

And lastly, I would describe myself as a great listener. People often assume that because I make expressive videos and talk a lot online, I must constantly be talking in real life too. But honestly, I’m someone who pays close attention to others and genuinely listens to people carefully when they speak. I think that’s a side of my personality people don’t immediately expect when they first see my content online.

Q. Looking ahead a few years, do you see yourself continuing content creation full-time, or exploring something completely different?

At this point in my life, I genuinely don’t see myself completely stepping away from content creation. It has become such an important part of who I am creatively.

At the same time, I’ve also always been deeply interested in marketing. I completed my degree in B.Com with a specialization in Marketing, and I’ve previously worked in marketing as well. So professionally, I would definitely love to continue exploring opportunities within that field too. Ideally, I would love to build a life where both these passions coexist - continuing content creation while also pursuing meaningful work in marketing. I think both fields complement each other creatively in many ways, and I would love to explore how I can grow in both spaces simultaneously while continuing to evolve personally and professionally.
