"There are sides to the people where they will criticise you if you’re doing well and if you’re working on yourself, also if you’re not doing anything."

Q. For people discovering you for the first time, who is Kuwar Kapur beyond the “142 to 80 kg” transformation story?

He is a very chill guy. He likes to talk to people. He likes to help people, and he is very funny. He likes to sing. He works with technical things a lot; basically, he is a people guy.

From the start of my childhood, I’ve been that funny, humorous and chirpy little fellow, who is kind of a life of the party? Basically, a very extroverted kind of person who sometimes can be a very introvert and likes to keep to himself, but all in all, he just wants to express himself as best he can try to be.

Q. You’ve documented your journey very honestly online. Was there a specific moment where you thought, “I genuinely need to change my life now”?

To be honest, in a fat guy‘s life or in a fat person‘s life, there is no specific moment that I need to change myself; every little moment or every little thing that has happened to them where they have felt embarrassed or where they feel they’re not capable enough, that summarises the whole part of that.
I want to change now.

I want to work on myself. It’s like those little things can sometimes lead up to a decision where a person is like it’s enough now, I have to start working on myself.

Q. Many people start a fitness journey but quit after 2–3 weeks. In your opinion, is weight loss more physical or more mental?

This is definitely a more mental game than a physical aspect, because honestly, when it comes to weight loss or any point where you are starting a fitness journey, I at one point was very similar to a guy who used to quit after just a week or two, concepts and my basics at that time were also right, but what kept me going? Was just plain dedication, and my mental will to just change myself.

Q. Social media can sometimes glorify “extreme” fitness transformations. Do you ever feel pressure to constantly maintain a certain physique online?

When I was starting out on sharing my fitness journey, so yeah, there was some pressure that, oh I have to share only the good parts, or I have to maintain an image where I’m not sharing those moments or those times where I am not able to even motivate myself.

But gradually, when I started putting myself more out, I figured that if I don’t share those moments or those particular points where I am real and raw, then people would not understand the struggle behind all of this. So yes, social media can glorify extreme transformations that are there, but in the end, you should just be a person who is real and raw and sharing whatever worked for them.

Q. Did your friendships or social circle change after your transformation?

Sometimes people react differently once you start changing yourself.
Honestly, yes, my social circle did change a bit. The person that I am right now. People see you more when you change physically, and yeah, people react differently even till date. There are sides to the people where they will criticise you if you’re doing well and if you’re working on yourself, and they will also criticise you if you’re not doing anything.

My circle of friends or my friendship, I feel, didn’t had any impact, and I guess, yeah, that’s what friends are there for

Q. If you had to survive on only one “healthy” meal and one cheat meal forever, what would Kuwar Kapur pick?

To be honest, picking just one cheat meal would be an insult to the fat guy I used to be, but if I really have to pick something that will be just one cheat meal forever that I will go for is Chhole Bhature, And if I have to talk about just one healthy meal, then that would be plain old chicken and rice or Any bowl of protein oats.
