Student Leader Interview - Parul Dhiman From Gargi College

1. Tell us more about your roles and responsibilities at your college?

I was Joint Secretary of my department, Quasar, Physics department of Gargi College in my first year. I was assigned the duty of mass participation in all the events. Also I was the class representative also. In-spite of being on any post, I always put my best in successful completion of any event. 


2.What are the top skills that you have learnt with what you do?

My 3-year journey in the college taught me bounty of skills like leadership quality, teamwork and maintaining unity. Also it taught me how to present myself with full confidence. It taught me to be a good listener and work in an unbiased way.


3.How did you rise up to your position and how can the student aspiring the same, approach it?

I gave my best in whatever responsibility I got. I did all the work sincerely with all my heart into it. So, I can say, a genuine dedication will do wonders.


4.What are the career goals and how is what you are doing going to help you with that?

I want to have a doctorate in Physics and go for research. I'm still doing all it takes to achieve that. 


5. What's it like to juggle between a leadership role and normal college life?

Being in college means Being around opportunities. So why not do it. Grab every chance, step out of your comfort zone! 


6.How  can we encourage more young students such as yourself to take up leadership roles?

In today's world, one must have leadership quality to survive. 
So as I said, don't miss anything. Grab all the chances. Keep learning. 


7.What's your message to encourage students to do internships and attend conferences?

I think Internships are very important to gain practical exposure. One must go for internships and then only he/she will get to know what is being-on-field feels like. And marks are not everything, What are you as a person? Are you capable of handling the real life situations, Are you a learner; These really matters. 
So, never miss out an opportunity. Go for it.
