1. Tell us about your background and journey.

I graduated from the Faculty of Media at Sana'a University in the Department of Journalism, and then started my work as a freelancer journalist. After getting a hands-on, I started working as an editor for the street newspaper, attending many conferences and workshops outside Yemen.

Doing all these things made me realize how much I loved this profession and what is my vision for Journalism. All these years have made me realize one thing, i.e., my love for Journalism will never end.

2. What is your opinion about press freedom in Yemen?

In Yemen, there is not enough press freedom mainly because of the war.
As a result of which many newspaper agencies have been shut down and many journalists have been arrested and some have also been assassinated.

3. Who is your favorite journalist and why?

I don't have that kind of a favoritism for any particular journalist. But I always loved to read the works of Mohamed Hassanein Heikal, Thomas Friedman, Farid Zakaria and Robert Kaplan.

These guys are the most favorite among the others as they always act as a guiding torch for me so that I can also follow their path to become a great journalist

4. What do you think about the quality of journalism in Yemen and how can it be improved?

Yemen needs to impose press freedom in order to improve journalistic work and enforce the law on journalists' rights and protection sought instead of killing them.

I always want that the problem that everyone's facing right now ends quickly and so that we could again get back to the path towards a brighter and a better future.

5. What is your message to all aspiring journalists?

My advice to all the aspiring journalists is to keep working hard, always trying to show the truth and never trying to falsify it.

For achieving that, you should always try to be true to yourself and continuously strive for excellence. Keep in mind that there will be many ups and downs in this journey, but you have to stay strong and continuously work hard to achieve that dream of yours.

6. If you could interview one famous person, who would that be and why?

I wish if I had ever got a chance, I want to meet few international writers and journalists to gain experience from them and have an exchange of cultures such as Kafka, Nietzsche, Marcel Proust, Robert Moselle, Tolstoy, Distoyevsky, Lawrence, Henry Miller, Hemingway, James Joyce and Samuel Beckett.
