1. Tell us more about your role & responsibilities at your college.

I’m Indhumathi and I’m the class representative of MBA first year at my post graduate college (Thiagarajar School of Management). From my point of view, Class representatives are the bridge between students and staffs. They are not supposed to favor any side and treat both with equal importance.

The main role here is communication with both side and decision making considering both sides. We have to refuse or accept something but gets to decide before that.Basically, myself and my co class representatives represent my whole class.

2. How did you rise up to your position and how can a student aspiring the same, approach it?

I am always aspired to try lead positions an learn to become a better leaders in future. I was refused in many instances before. Therefore, I felt this will work and did my best. All one need to be a class representative is confidence, easy going, friendly and critical thinking.

Basically I love to lead people and guide them in each and every aspects and to pave them all a good way which helps me to achieve a good optimal environment around me.

It is hard to make a compromise between students and staffs we have to consider both sides. Everyone will be different so we have to handle it differently. This will be very useful in my future to adapt easily to my work environment.

I learnt be more patient, understanding.

  • Keep calm under all circumstances
  • Responsibility to assist teachers in whatever way you can

  • Assist everyone whenever they face a problem
  • Should demonstrate care and support to the co students

Some of the key issues from being my journey as a class representative are,
  • Communicating clearly to your fellow members
  • Conflict in the group
  • Maintaining positivity within your club
  • Working together
  • Balancing your class and other obligations

4. What did you do in your current role that makes you feel really proud of yourself?

I feel proud when my decisions gave best outcome for the sake of both parties. I'll get a separate recognition among all and new connections through them too. It always feels good when your hard work is paid good in end.

5. What's your message to encourage students to do internships and attend conferences?

Learning should never be stopped. Though books and others words give you knowledge, experiencing and learning is on different level. This gives you complete understanding of your future responsibilities and actions. It will give you new connections and exposure.
