1. When and how did you choose to be a Graphic Designer?

I started graphic design in the second year of my engineering. The more I worked, the more I figured out that I am actually enjoying this process. My confidence boosted up more when my friends and colleagues started appreciating my designs and creativity too.

So now, I am looking ahead towards professionalism.

2. What is the role and scope of work for a Graphic Designer?

A graphic designer plays an important role in conveying a variety of messages visually with his creativity and skills. He works to create posters, billboards, packaging, logos, and marketing materials for different brands, franchises, and social awareness.

With more digitalization in almost every field across the world, industries tend to need the services of a graphic designer.

3. What are some tools and software that a Graphic Designer must be aware of?

It depends a lot on what kind of graphic designer you are. For example, a UI/UX designer uses Adobe XD, Axure and Sketch, etc. But software like Photoshop, Illustrator, and Corel draw are the few most popular tools/software which almost every designer is aware of.

4. How in your opinion has this profession changed over the years?

As mentioned earlier, I never thought of growing as a professional in this field but now we can see the pace of digitalization and its effects too. As more businesses get digitalized there will be a definite growing requirement of graphic designers, hence, the future looks very promising in this profession.

Even during the current COVID crisis, it’s one of those few professions that have seen its growth.

5. Do you often need to keep yourself updated with the Software or Tools?

Obviously, you have to keep learning every day and grow your domain of knowledge to ultimately grow your range of imagination and implementation. According to me, the most important thing for graphic designing is not software or tools but it’s your imagination and creativity that keeps you growing.

Besides all this, you also need to constantly learn new tools whenever possible to save time and execute what you imagine. Currently, I am through Adobe Photoshop and after-effects.

6. What kind of book do you prefer to read?

I haven't been into reading books or novels much but I do listen to podcasts and that really interests me. Some of my favorites are 99% Invisible, The Ranveer Show, 9XM SoundcastE.

7. How can one develop a keen sense of designs and aesthetics?

I think it is gifted. But that doesn't mean that you can't achieve it with practice. I have experienced my improvement because of practicing it every day for the past year.

To develop a sense of design and aesthetics you need to:
  1. Observe more and appreciate art.
  2. Follow good artists.
  3. Practice and challenge yourself daily.
  4. Travel.
