1. Tell us more about your experience as an educator.

Well, being an educator I, Devi Chithran, have learned a lot about what education system is ,as well as the student psychology.  Its been an year where I have experienced teaching different subjects apart from my subject which is music. And because of it I have started referring to various topics and earned a lot of knowledge about different subjects like Moral Education and Value Education.

And also I have been assigned as a class teacher which gave me more responsibilities and ideas of how to take care of the whole class strength as our own family and try to bring out the best in them.

2. What is your opinion of the Indian education system and how would you like to change that?

According to me the Indian Education is one of the best that nurtures a student to be a good human when compared to other countries but definitely it still depends upon the school as well as the student’s mentality about their growth. The only thing which I feel that has to be changed is , there should be classes regarding health and safety for both girls and boys as they should be self sufficient in keeping themselves safe.

There should be martial arts, differentiation between good and bad touch, also parents should also have a session with the school regarding how to safeguard the mental health of their children. Nowadays school shouldn’t be a place just for academics. It should be beyond that as the place is the child’s second home.

3. What changes in the teaching methodologies have you seen in the recent times?

Teachers now are focussing more on the abilities of each students and prepares differentiated lesson plans for the students. As now its inclusive educational system teachers would include the way of teaching for the High achievers, medium achievers and low achievers and also special education needs students.

4. How does education help one do well in their career?

“Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.” This is a famous quote which itself has got the answer, because without education if you can reach the roof, with education you can definitely reach the sky!

5. Do you think teaching as a profession is viewed at par with corporate jobs?

I would always say every job has their own importance and excellence but if I have to tell why teaching is important then I should point out that all the corporate employees as well as people like us have been trained by a Teacher, which led us to reach our careers.

6. How can we adopt technology to make teaching more effective?

The place where I am teaching, technology have been developed to the maximum as now more of e-learning is happening and it has been successful to an extent. According to me, it shouldn’t be like technology should dominate the manual teaching methods as there is a limit in relying completely on the technology.

7. Why does India need more educators like you?"

Simply because we see through the student’s perspective, teacher’s perspective as well as the parent’s perspective, and also we dedicate our time just for the development of our students (the future generation) regardless of any pandemic situations, or even when the teachers get their pay scale reduced, We would never reduce the quality of our teaching. Teaching ,for us is always sharing our knowledge and make our students a better student and a better human for this world!
