The beauty of blogging is that you're not judged by your qualifications or by who you know; you're judged on your talent, skills and story-telling ability.
1. Tell us about your background and journey
I am Varsha Khandelwal (aka @_indian.foodie_) and currently pursuing MCA (software engineer). I am a food addict, love to eat and cook. The food gives me energy. Without food, there is no life. It all started during my bachelor's as a hobby, but it has turned into much more than that.
Created my Instagram page or be it reviewing on zomato, trip advisor and more. I was always into exploring new cafes and trying different food joints. I gradually started learning cooking by my super mom.
The beauty of blogging is that you're not judged by your qualifications or by who you know; you're judged on your talent, skills and story-telling ability.
2. Which is your favourite cuisine and dish?
Choosing one is so tricky when life gives you so many choices to eat lol :D But my favourite has always been north Indian and Italian. I love Amritsari Naan the most. And from Italian Bruschetta and Lasagna. I am more of a person who loves to eat spicy chatpati chaats.
3. Should food blogging be just a passion, or can it become a stable career?
Yes, it can become a career if you have a passion and enjoy having fun with your work.
If you think stepping into blogging will make money instantly, then you are wrong. Remember, baby steps before leaping into a vast ocean of music, it's like solo singing without any background music, just be sure you are auditable and making small wave.
It takes a lot of efforts to make money in this right field. Once you gain a good audience reach and provide genuine reviews and food recommendation to your audience then definitely the doors will open slowly. You just need to engage your audience, know their needs and learn their patterns of interest.
Work hard and give time to daily engagement by clicking photographs, making videos or reels, suggesting places and recipes. Initial stages of earning includes collaboration and more.
4. Which restaurants/food joints would you recommend to food lovers?
Well, the list is long being a Delhiite most popular food joints include Raju ke chur chur naan, Fateh ki Kachori, Billus's hut, Hunger strike. Amongst college students, North campus's Hudson lane and South Campus cafes are famous like QD's, woodbox, bistro etc.
But what wins heart is old Delhi cuisine from Chandni Chowk and Jama Masjid.
5. What makes you appreciate a particular dish or a restaurant and talk about it in your blog?
What attracts the foodies most is the quality of content, ambience and presentation of the dish. These are the things that I focus on while updating my blog post because, from my insights, I learnt that the audience likes fancy foods and street food the most.
Pocket-friendly and theme-based restaurants are always a big yes.
6. Is there a dish you particularly associate yourself with?
Since childhood, I love having doughnuts it's sweet and crunchy like me. Can have it hot or cold just like my nature.
7. Which is your favourite book and why?
I love to read motivational novels. "Who Will Cry When you Die?" by
Robin Sharma offers pieces of advice on overcoming the difficulties of life while developing your personality and skills.
Other books include "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie, which is a self -help book.
