Mr Maheshwari is from a reputed business family of Makrana. He landed up in Jaipur for pursuing his higher studies in 2003. Back then 2008, in college, he has taken up an initiative to contribute to the society, primarily named as Naya Sawera along with his few friends, his basic motive was youth involvement in social services.
To fulfil this purpose, he began a campaign to interact with students of various colleges. The NGO has come so far, today; it has approximately 700 registered volunteers, most of them, being the youth.
After successfully completing his bachelor’s, he joined an international organization on the basis of active engagement in the social service sector, to serve and learn the society, a little more. He has been a dedicated employee, serving in different profiles in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh for the organization. Lately, in April’16, he decided to give up his job for his family business of marbles at Jaipur, itself.
As a founder of NayaSawera, Mr Maheshwari has always been concerned about society. So far, he has led many projects and campaigns (details are attached with other file related to projects and campaigns).
Today, he is successfully leading one of the biggest youth-based NGOs in the city. Under his leadership, the NGO has reached out to Delhi & Gurgaon. He desires to extend his social services to a lot more people and uplift the society till his last breath.
What led you into social activism?
I strongly believe that we all as an individual has to come forward to bring change. Only doing criticism and blaming on government won't able to bring the change.
Moreover, I am highly inspired and motivated by movie Rang De Basanti dialogues Koi bhi desh perfect nahi hota. Use perfect banana padta hai. And Zindagi jeene ke do hi tarike hote hain, ek jo ho rha hai hone do, bardaast karte jao. Ya fir zimmedari uthao.
What is that one cause you care deeply about and why?
“DAYS OF PRIDE": - Self-care is not self-indulgence…Self-care is Self-respect…
We’re often asked, “Why sanitary pads? Is it really that important?” The answer is - Yes: for countless girls and women, sanitary pads are an unaffordable luxury. Thousands of girls explained that they were forced to resort to unsanitary and sometimes unsafe measures to meet their needs.

These include improvising makeshift pads from old clothes, rags, newspapers, bits of a mattress, and other readily available materials. The lack of affordable sanitary pads has been widely cited as one of the key obstacles to regular school attendance among adolescent girls.
So, we at NayaSawera Ngo have taken the initiative of providing sanitary pads to maximum possible women each month with proper records. Under the campaign Days of Pride, we have distributed around 45,000 packets of Sanitary Pads (Total pads around 4 Lakh ) to girls/Ladies mostly belonging to a government school and slums who can't afford each month such necessity to spread awareness about health and hygiene since May 2016 through 5 Sanitary Pads Bank.

If one wants to contribute and make a difference in social causes, how can one do it?
I always prefer to involve in social work which I love most to do for example I always ask my volunteers if they love playing ludo or carrom then come and do volunteering by playing with our shelter home kids, the same way if they love teaching dance, art and craft or any other specific subject then allow them to do.

And if I talk about volunteering in my organisation, we just ask them to give 2 hours per week minimum and again we ask them to do what they love to do.
Who is your role model and why?
Our community co-worker Mamta is my role model. Even despite victim of domestic violence, sexual and physical abuse, and many other hurdles like education poverty, an early marriage she always ready to serve the society, she always goes beyond her capacity to help the needy one in community. For me, She is Mother Terresa for Jaipur.
What are some of the challenges and roadblocks you have faced along your journey?
My biggest challenge for me was my own identity as Male as my most of projects are related to personal hygiene and health of growing girls and ladies and it’s been very difficult in the initial stage to make them comfortable to talk on such issues.
What is your opinion about social media activism?
For me, social media activism played a really important role in creating awareness and growing the organisation. And the more important thing is it’s up to us how we use it. It can be a changemaker also or it can be a disaster as well.
