Tell us about your background and journey.

I was born in Mumbai but brought up in Dubai all my life. I stay here with my parents and brother. Dubai is my first home since I have completed my education here and have worked all my life in this beautiful city. I have closely witnessed the rise of Dubai as a Global centrepiece of attraction.

What led you to start your page on Instagram?

I always had a zeal for assessing various kinds of services ranging from restaurants, shopping malls, hospitals, cafes etc. I used to participate in various mystery shopping assignments for restaurants, shopping outlets, call centres and would prepare a detailed report on the services.

Apart from that, I have a habit of reviewing food and restaurants on Zomato. This practice of mine leads me to start my own page on Instagram and Facebook in September 2020.

My Instagram handle is Kashilicious25. The handle is an amalgamation of my nickname and delicious. Being a foodie, I started with Food blogging and eventually started reviewing other services such as hospitals, skincare products. Apart from this, my page also helps in supporting small businesses especially the ones led by women entrepreneurs.

Which is your favourite cuisine and dish?

I tend to be traditional in my choices, in which Paneer (Cottage Cheese) tops the list. However, being settled in Dubai all my life, I was lucky enough to be exposed to various international cuisines. Italian is very close to my heart, followed by Mexican and Chinese cuisines, not to forget the local Arabic food which fits perfectly with the other cuisines.

Should blogging be just a passion or can it become a regular career?

If you have the zest for writing and if you are passionate about a subject, blogging definitely is an alternative career path for you. Being a professional blogger is like being your own boss, flexible schedules, and moreover, you can choose to do it wherever you want; all you need is a Laptop and network.

Well, for many people like me blogging is just a hobby at the moment.

Is it financially sustainable to be a blogger today?

Yes. It is possible to make a living by writing online. There are several ways, through which blogging can generate revenue such as work with brands on sponsored posts, becoming an affiliate, opening up your own online store, selling licenses for your photography and videos etc.

However, I would like to add here that do not expect great earnings initially by blogging. It requires a lot of patience and hard work before you start generating any revenue.

Do you have any tips for people who want to join this field?

Let me tell you, if you are starting a blog about common topics such as Food, travel, Health, Entertainment etc, there is a lot of competition out there. Hence, I suggest blog on the hyper-specific topic and becoming the go-to expert on that topic, Write about topics people have been searching for and create content worth referencing.

Which is your favourite book and why?

I enjoy reading Romance fictions since it works as a stress buster for me. I am a huge fan of Indian authors and my all-time favourite is all the romantic novels written by Ravinder Singh.
