Why Did Liverpool Fall Short to Real Madrid?

First Leg Scenes

It was indeed a happy day for all Madridistas, especially the first half of the game. Real Madrid almost controlled them well and scored the first two goals which helped them gain confidence and they ended up scoring another one in the second half. Madrid was a more vibrant one from the first half.

Things went on well for them. Liverpool did enter the game with a positive vibe after they ripped arsenal apart, winning 3-0 which gave them a boost to start with a positive mindset.

Kroos Doing the Magic

Toni Kroos one of the greatest midfielders of this season again proved his masterclass by a couple of unspectacular long balls in which the first one was
cleanly chested and then finished by Vinicius Junior which completely split Liverpool’s defense.

Again with a good ball from Kroos and a huge blunder by Liverpool’s RB gave Marco Asensio a close-range finish and also gave them confidence for scoring more.

Liverpool's Fight After Break

Salah drilling in off the bar by scoring a stunner and brought back Liverpool into the game which almost gave Liverpool a lifeline. Though Salah and Jota were doing their best still they failed to restore parity.

During the first half Liverpool completely lost possession so many times and gave away the ball many times. Liverpool's full-backs were pressing high and Madrid took this as an advantage and used this opportunity to score not once but thrice.

Zidane’s Power

Real Madrid has not lost since January and their midfield is something about which the whole world talks about. Despite missing their captain Sergio Ramos and almost 52 injuries this season Real Madrid never failed to amaze their fans with an outstanding performance.

Complete domination by Madrid’s midfield which cost three goals for Klopp’s Liverpool. However, even Liverpool had some big injuries this season with their key player Virgil van Dijk missed many matches this season.

Comeback at Anfield?

This will be a doubtful question since after losing to Barcelona in 2019 in an away game Klopp’s Liverpool gave a brilliant fightback to put Barca on mud. Liverpool turned their 3-0 defeat from Nou Camp and scored four and gave nightmare to all the Cules.

However, Liverpool’s manager complained that Madrid’s ground was so hard to play and that was the main reason they were unable to score. The second leg full of attacking and brilliance can provide victory to Klopp's Liverpool.
