Mrunal Mali - People Would Prefer a Comfortable and Sustainable Wardrobe as the New Norm (Social Media Blogger, India)

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

I was born in Pune and raised in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. I graduated from Dr. D Y Patil's University in Nerul with a bachelor's (engineering) degree in Information Technology. Currently, I am studying for MBA entrance exams in the hopes of being accepted into a reputable MBA program. 

In 2017, I began writing in the food area. I started my blog on Wix, and I also used to review restaurants and cafés on Zomato and Instagram. Because of my academics, I wasn't always constant at first, but as time went on, I got more conscientious. 

I began by examining small neighbourhood cafés and restaurants, then progressed to larger establishments. Because of the lockdown, I haven't been able to go out and try new restaurants or cuisine since March 2020. 

So I started blogging about fashion since I used to receive a lot of compliments on how I dressed and carried myself in every outfit I put together. 

In addition, I've broadened my writing horizons to include the lifestyle domain. In October 2020, I launched my own website, www.minxturehouse.com, which soon gained traction on Instagram and led to several brand collaborations. I am a self-taught writer who appreciates lengthy conversations, wine, and daring leaps of faith with excellent company. 

Because of my inquisitive personality, I enjoy hearing people's tales about their lives and experiences. Sharing my experiences about food, travel and fashion made me quite happy and content. As I am a gregarious, brave, and open-minded person, it has aided my growth as a person and a blogger.


2. What led you to start your page on Instagram?
 

During my undergraduate years, I was fairly popular, and I was an active member of the Student Union Council and the cultural events that the committee hosted. I was chosen as the Student Union Council's Marketing Head and gained valuable experience. 

Aside from that, I used to go to local events to meet new people and network. I used to travel and try new restaurants, and dressing up was one of my favourite pastimes, so I had the idea of sharing my experiences with the rest of the world. 

Because of my good communication skills and being someone extremely easy to connect with, I initially had roughly 3000 Instagram followers. So I was inspired by the bloggers and thought, "Why not?" I developed an Instagram page then a blog afterward. 

Also, Instagram is a popular application among the general public, with a large user base. It began as a hobby but has since evolved into a significant aspect of my life. Over time, I started to love it more.

3. Do you think that there will be a new style statement or fashion obsession with the new normal? If so, what would be your choice and why?

People would prefer a comfortable and sustainable wardrobe as the new norm. Putting together chic outfits out of basic, comfortable clothing with good styling tips, with inspiration from bloggers and influencers.

In addition, women's use of nipple pasties or free bras would become the new norm in everyday life.


4. Is it financially sustainable to be a blogger today?

No, becoming a blogger as a novice is not financially viable today, but every component has a reasonable level of investment and return. As you progress through the years, you will be offered brand collaborations and projects, which will assist you financially. As you go up the ladder, your financial situation will improve.


5. What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?

Having a healthy work-life balance and achieving your goals while exploring other aspects of life is my definition of success. Maintain consistency in your aims whilst exploring the other aspects of life.

My life mantra is simple: consider taking one day at a time, achieve your goals for the day while enjoying life, stay positive and believe in oneself despite setbacks, and never give up. When you face failure, stay consistent and keep the big picture in mind; while you are climbing the ladder, don't let your achievements distract you from your dreams.


6. Who is your favourite blogger and why?

Juhi Godambe is my favourite blogger because she strikes the perfect work-life balance while still being a successful entrepreneur and owner of the Arabellaa label.

Inspired by her, I launched my Minxture House label, which sells accessories, bags, and a variety of other items, much earlier in life than I had planned.


7. Do you have any tips for people who want to join this field?

To the young aspirants interested in this field, I would advise them to jump on that bandwagon without hesitation. You'll figure out your way as you continue on this beautiful journey. You'll have a lot of failures, but no matter how many times you fail, you should get up and keep going. 

There will be a few who will criticize you, or worse, mock you; they may be strangers or even your closest friends; however, do not fall into the trap of self-doubt; one day you will receive all the love and success you deserve; at that time, the feelings of gratitude, content, and happiness will be greater than any other feeling in the world.


8. Which is your favourite book and why?

The Forty Rules of Love is my favourite book. It is two love tales juxtaposing a modern man- woman romance against the backdrop of an ancient tale of the bond between Rumi, the poet, and his Sufi master, Shams of Tabriz. It depicts the essence of passion, as well as how to live life to the fullest and be compassionate. 

The book lays forth forty principles for living a tranquil and caring life. This set of principles makes life simple and enjoyable, and it teaches people to appreciate what they have, to be kind, and to stay focused on their goals.
