Women, throughout the years, had fought so hard to gain their rights. No one should “fight” for his rights, that’s why they are called rights.
However, this is not the case in our not-so-perfect world, where so many groups of people had, and still have, to fight for their simple rights. Females are one of these unfortunate groups.
Women around the world are still fighting every day to gain simple rights, and to be equal with men, in so many things that are simply their rights.
Females fight for the same treatment as males, they fight for the same salaries even though they do the same work maybe even more than males. Women fight to simply have the same rights and privileges as men.
Feminist songs are a great motivation to continue fighting, these songs are also a big confidence boost for women who lack the confidence to know their true worth, and so much more.
Hundreds of songs were inspired by feminism to inspire females everywhere and every day to know their worth and importance to everyone in this world and, most importantly, to themselves.
Here are 8 of these feminist songs that inspired women everywhere to be strong and brave throughout the years.
I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor (1978)
This iconic song shall live forever, even though it was released more than four decades ago.
The song talks about some women’s fear of being alone after a relationship ends, despite this relationship being toxic, how you think you will not be alive if that person left you.
But then it talks about how everything is better after this relationship has come to an end. The song also talks about how strong you can be once you choose to be free and never to go back, even if he asked for you to go back to him.
The song emphasizes that you still have your life ahead of you and your love to give to the right person and to never settle for less.
Independent Women, Pt.1 by Destiny's Child (2000)
This song had been introduced first to the world as a soundtrack for the movie Charlie’s Angels.
The song breaks the stereotypical image of women being dependent on men in a financial way. The image of women always depends on men to buy stuff or to pay rent and other money-related things.
The song talks about how women can pay their bills and pay their stuff without having to ask men for money and financial support.
It mainly speaks that women can also work hard and be good at what they do, even better than men and they also can earn their own money and depend on their selves.
Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys (2012)
Even though the song’s lyrics are an emotional massage about empowering women and how we can do anything that we put our minds and hearts into, however, the music video draws a bigger picture about women or mothers' superpowers.
The video is just phenomenal, it gives a glimpse of most mother’s and women’s daily life and how much effort they put into their homes and their children.
It shows how much work women do for everyone and their superpower of multitasking so many things simultaneously and do it again every single day without complaining.
Q.U.E.E.N by Janelle Monáe (2013)
The song is all about equality and how women can do the same things as men without being judged the wrong way.
The finale rap verse of the song gives a clear message to everyone about equality and that women can, sometimes, do a better job than men even with all the efforts to bring us down and bury our achievements.
All About That Bass by Meghan Trainor (2014)
This song talks about how you could be beautiful and confident, even if you do not meet the standers that society had put on females’ image to be thin like the models in magazines.
However, the song talks about all girls being beautiful despite not matching the standers of the magazines, which, most of the time, are not real.
Most Girls by Hailee Steinfeld (2017)
Have you ever heard the phrase “you are different from most girls” from a man?
I am not sure what this phrase means. The song speaks about “most girls” and how “most girls” are beautiful, successful, smart, and strong. It, also, speaks that it is more than okay to be like “most girls”.

The Man by Taylor Swift (2019)
This iconic song and its music video discuss the difficulties of being a woman in this world, and how men do not face these problems.
It is a fact that life, success, and life can be, sometimes, easier for men which is one of the things the song talks about, in addition to how it is okay to be “bad” if
you are a man but it is unacceptable for women.
In general, the song states the discrimination between females and males, in different things like work, behaviors, and what is excepted and accepted from each one.
ICU (Madison’s Lullabye) by Demi Lovato (2021)
We cannot write a feminist list without mentioning Demi Lovato. In this song Lovato talks about the time she woke up from a fatal overdose in 2018, and how she did not want her little sister Madison to see her in this state.
This song shows how much love and care women give for anyone, even at their weakest points. The song also expresses the fact that no pain can prevent a woman from giving everything in her power to be the best for her loved ones.
In simple words, the song gives you a clear image of the strength and empathy women have.
