Sunakshi Grover - Working as an Actor Has Always Given Me an Incredible Amount of Happiness and a Sense of Fulfilment (Anusha from Flames)

Things happen differently and at different points of time for different people so do not compare your journey with anyone else. Believe in your uniqueness, and remain consistent in your efforts.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

My journey began with an audition that I gave for a TVC when I was 16 years old and since then I have been auditioning and working. It’s been very bumpy, I have learnt a lot and I’m still learning since I am completely on my own.

I gather new experiences with every new thing that I do. At a very young age, I understood what it’s like to work in a professional setting and to manage both my studies and work.

I’ve had my happy moments and moments that were terrible and not worth remembering but I believe that everything that I have experienced has contributed in some way to what I am today and I hope that there is a long way to go.

2. Did you ever think or dream of being an actor?

I always had a knack for acting since I was a child, but it was only till I was a teenager when I realised that I must pursue it. It is something that I feel comes very naturally to me and working as an actor has always given me an incredible amount of happiness and a sense of fulfilment.

3. How can one approach their career and have the confidence and belief to become an actor?

I may not be the best person to answer as to how one should approach their career but from my own personal experience, I can say that one must keep trying and polish one’s skills as it is never going to be enough.

Moreover, failure will be a part of it so one must be prepared for that and not let that get the better of you. Lastly, remember that there is so much more to life than just your career is so important has always kept me sane.

4. If not this, what would you be doing?

I am pursuing my Masters in clinical psychology so it has to be something in the field of mental health.

5. For a complete outsider with inroads, what advice would you like to give?

As a complete outsider, I believe that there is no one particular way or advice that can work for anyone because it is always a different road for everybody. From what I have been able to infer in the past few years, things happen differently and at different points of time for different people so do not compare your journey with anyone else.

Believe in your uniqueness, and remain consistent in your efforts. You have to take charge of your own self and do not let anybody degrade you and fool you. If you are good enough for something, you will get through and that stands true for every career. Working on your craft and making wise choices is the key.

6. What is your mantra of success?

I am certainly not the best person to answer that. I am proud of what I have achieved but I have not reached a point in my career where I can say that I am successful.

7. Which is your favourite book and why?

There is no one book that’s my favourite however, I have always enjoyed reading the Harry Potter books and I can read them over and over again.
