The Struggles of Wearing Glasses

Source: Buzzfeed

As of this moment while I am writing this article with the mask covering my face my glass is completely fogged and just gimme a minute…the struggle of wearing glasses is real and a subject which is completely disregarded as a frivolous matter. I am a part of the glass-wearing community and I want justice. It’s not a trivial matter and certainly not something that should be overlooked because come on where are all the empaths? If you are one of those people who have a perfect vision thanks to your good genes, good for you but stop being indifferent to the struggles of those who are not so lucky!

Hide And Seek

It might seem fun but it is not. I swear sometimes my glasses just hop from one place to another. imagine waking up late for school, college or job and being unable to find your glasses not being able to look for your glasses without wearing your glasses is a real struggle. they get lost every time and sometimes you might find someone sitting on top of it. Most of the time it’s just you. squinting your eyes is only helpful up to a certain time and distance. my glasses need to stop vanishing every once in a while!!

A Fudge, For every single smudge.

I am lazy and I wear glasses. They do not go well together. You cannot leave your house without cleaning clothes or a cotton pad otherwise you are in for a big day…the smudges will keep on nagging you till you otherwise wipe your glasses with your shirt’s corner and even then, it might just get more scattered. There is just no guarantee. If it does not look good and I am wearing it I don’t even want to know what the others see and think.

Droplets of Water,  Stop being such a mood spoiler.

If you have never found your vision temporarily impaired with droplets of water getting stuck to your glasses, are you sure you are part of this community buddy because water and glasses and outdoor are a terrible combination? The constant need to wipe your glasses just so you don’t hit your head against the next wall. Imagine this scenario. It’s raining and you are standing in the corner of the road trying to cross it while vehicles zoom past you and your glasses are completely drenched. All you can hear is the blaring horns while you squint to see the other side of the road and there is shouting, thumping noises around you and you need to cross the road now but your glasses are fogged, you also need to clean it to be able to see clearly but then you don’t have the cotton pad with you and you also have to cross the streets now and there are still sounds of honking….

The feeling is terrible and to be honest quite unnerving.

Don’t Throw Shade, For me not being able to wear shades!.

One of the worst feelings and probably the biggest disadvantage of wearing glasses is that you can’t wear sunglasses. Like how rude is that! Being unable to keep up with the trends of sunglasses is not fun. It’s a sunny day and while everyone leaves their house wearing different shapes and styles of sunglasses you wear prescription glasses because you need to see that you don’t end up falling in a ditch. There is a certain amount of coolness associated with wearing glasses and we are completely deprived of it.

Need is Not Equal to Want!

So now that you gotta see, you have to wear glasses and sometimes it does not even help. The power keeps on increasing and your eyesight keeps on worsening. like seriously? I am unable to jump into the water wear sunglasses or enjoy rain only for my eyesight to become more miserable day after day and my need to wear glasses becomes more important.

Living With Your Choices

I am not a good decision maker and when surrounded by hundreds of frames and lenses I can’t decide what I want. The expectant eyes of the shopkeeper and the need to stay under the budget can daunt even the dauntless. too many choices, limited time and I end up picking the one I am going to regret for the rest of one or two years of my life.

Wearing glasses is not an easy task and it requires conviction to be able to live with being denied certain privileges and deserve some much-needed appreciation.
