“Having a Clean Environment is better than having a destroyed environment”
India is a country with the second largest population in the world and one of the countries with the largest need. When there is an increase in the demand there will be an increase in the supply but once the supply gets increased the waste products also get increased. This is becoming one of the biggest issues which need immediate attention and is becoming one of the highest reasons for health hazards.
Do you know that a lot of air, land and other forms of pollution are caused due to improper waste disposal? There are a lot of projects and ideas proposed to solve these projects and a lot of them seem to have a promising future ahead. This is one such project which I find interesting.
The idea of the Project
The main idea is to create a robot that can be used to sense the e-waste and other wastes around and collect them for disposal of it without manhandling them. Since manhandling them can be a tedious process and hazardous one. Once they are done collecting they will be moving them to the collecting area without human interference since some of the compounds which are waste emits radioactive emission and can cause severe and permanent damage to human beings.
Components Used
Most of the components which are used for this project are available at a cheaper rate. The components used are mentioned below :
- Ultrasonic Sensor: The ultrasonic sensor is used to detect the waste level in the garbage tray and in the surrounding area.
- IR Sensor: IR sensor is an LED type sensor that emits infrared rays from one terminal end and receives them at the other end. This helps in tracking the path in which the robot has to move.
- Bluetooth HC05: The purpose of using Bluetooth is to replace cables that connect devices and also make the communication between them safe and secure.
- ATMEGA 328: This is a microcontroller that converts the given real-life inputs to readable which is then used to operate the robot.
- MAX 232: The MAX232 is a Maxim Integrated Products integrated circuit that translates signals from a TIA-232 (RS-232) serial port to signals appropriate for use in TTL-compatible digital logic circuits. It was initially introduced in 1987.
- Relay Driver: A relay driver circuit is one that can drive or operate a relay in order for it to perform properly in a circuit.
- DC Motor: A DC motor is a machine that transforms electrical energy into mechanical energy.
Block Diagram
As you can see in the block diagram given above how the connections are made and the way they are interlinked with one another to form a complete framework of the system. A customised Android application is created for the purpose of remote control. This has a higher advantage over others since all you need to do is a little programming and you are good to go.
Project
Not only was the prototype functional, if completed with all the future scope mentioned this could be one of the most useful robots which can save both time and damage caused to humans because of the generated wastes. This bot is capable of handling delicate and other wastes as well. Not only will they have higher exposure in Industry, but also in the domestic sector. As the cost of production is low, a high number of bots can be made. Simplicity is what makes this project even more impressive, A simple yet efficient robot.
Future Scope
- After this stage of enactment, they are planning to take this project to a higher level. First of all one thing we can execute or accomplish is making use of a navigation system that is GPS based instead of using the line follower robot. Since using the GPS system can not only keep a track of its movements but also an easy way to access its movement.
- There are both useful and harmful e-wastes in which the useful components are identified and separated to further usage. Since the useful components can be recycled or reused.
Conclusion
There are endless health hazards caused due to the manhandling of hazardous e-waste. So we believe that using such robots can prevent health issues caused due to the manhandling of e-wastes and It can work more effectively than humans. Radiation caused by these e-wastes harms those in direct and indirect contact with them, so we are using such bots to clean them. So having such bots replace humans is not that bad of an idea.
