Priyanjana Roy - Choose Your Path And Dedicate Time For It (Food Blogger From India)

The journey began more than 12 years back when blogging was not even what most people knew anything about.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

My background funnily like most Indians, is in Engineering. My journey with writing and blogging started from my engineering hostel days and evolved from DIY and crafts to a wide niche of food, lifestyle, and much more. The journey began more than 12 years back when blogging was not even what most people knew anything about.

2. Which is your favorite cuisine and dish?

I am a lover of experiencing different cuisines, so I don't have a particular favorite one. But if I had to choose, I'd say Japanese and a simple bowl of donburi with a side of grated radish is what I'd choose.

3. Should food blogging be just a passion or can it become a regular career?

There are various types of food blogging as well. There is recipe blogging, travel, and food blogging, and the one where you write about food that you try and experience. If you want to dedicate your time and can take the career up with passion, it definitely has a lot of scopes, but you need to tackle this, as you would any business you start.

4. Which restaurants/food joints would you recommend to food lovers?

In Bangalore, a few of my frequent haunts are Chianti, Harima, Salt, Kabapchi, and Kappa Chakka Kandhari, alongside many more, but these are my top picks and recommendations.

5. What makes you appreciate and talk about a particular dish or restaurant in your blog?

Quality of ingredients and care taken to prepare it. It is also about the restaurant's concept and how close they are actually to meeting it. I'd definitely not be impressed if a restaurant boasts about having authentic preparations and then goes and puts something Indianized on the menu.

6. Is there a dish you particularly associate yourself with?

Yes, Just the simple comfort food, a garlicky dal and steaming hot rice with sabo ke papad.

7. Which is your favorite book and why?

Not a cookbook in this case. I quite like "A place called here", because of the whimsy it brings.
