An Examination of the Viability of Non-Violence as a Strategy in Contemporary Conflicts

A journey from having no first use to knowing the first attack is something which makes our mind about being violent sometimes in this world, full of interest of their nation.

In today's day and age of globalization, violence is something that is always in the heart of the nation-state, and the one that does not show aggression ends up becoming an Alliance with another country. This straight away gives us an idea that non-violence is not a workable strategy in this error of globalization where there are a lot of global issues that can't cater without a powerful army and that is why countries most of the budget move to words in enhancing they are Technology capabilities in respect to the defense sector.

Let me quote here a country that calls itself the god of peace and establishes this ideology of democracy, Liberation so to speak peace. the intervention of the US can be easily in countries like Afghanistan, and Syria where the US Army deployed weapons and armies to fight and that is mainly for their interest.

There Is No Alternative to War?

When it comes to having an alternative to it we can't have any proper solution to this as war is something that established a hegemony of a particular country which we can easily trace park after the collapse of the USSR where the USA try to establish its hegemony and created a unipolar world even in 1945 USA was the first country to use nuclear bomb over Japan and after that want to stop other countries to make a nuclear weapon for their use-- shoes a lot of biases north have towards the south in terms of development and their own country security and territorial integrity.

Power politics is another term that we must know when it comes to that non-violence is not a workable strategy- if we go with the example of Russian Ukraine war we can easily see the power politics between the West and Russia, both the side continuously accusing each other for the war and its expansion would seem to have a good link with what had started after 1945 that is after World War 2.

And the bitter truth is that Quest for power never end even after that does bend of USSR rather it increased or escalated.

Nation interest is another point where we can argue that non-violence is not workable at all when it comes to addressing global issues so the country may be built any kind of community or forum or dialogues or any kind of agreement but at the end of it there on Nation-state interest is at a priority which can be in favor of that agreement or in against and that is why there is not a common consensus among countries and that is how they become violent at times.

Now with the emergence of the global century that is the 21st-century countries are now making their regional forums as well which even gift power to weaker States to hegemonies regionally by using force or sometimes support for example Taiwan which is from one way kind of try to recognize itself not just regionally but also Global so for that Taiwan having good relation with the USA to counter China's aggression over itself.

Arguments in Favor

If we move to the flip side of this article so we can easily look over many non-violence steps taken by the countries to bring peace to their region.

Non-violence is the best idea to build peace and community among countries and that is what we can easily fit into the recent Iran-Saudi Arabia deal which was mediated by China it is a major step being taken by the first Eastern country to mediate something in the Middle East and this deal is historical because its first time the two countries come to get them for a deal with different sects that is Sunni and Shia.

China right now emerged as a peacemaker in Asian countries we can even see the visit of Chinese President Xinping to Ukraine to bring both countries to a common consensus.

For many years the Western media heavily criticized China for its expansionist policy or debt trap now shocked by the Chinese step towards it which again kind of makes this world into the steps that Mahatma Gandhi visualized once

In the concluding remark, I would like to say that may non-violence can be a way for countries to mediate, and conciliate any kind of War or disturbance in the world but if we see it from the concept of increasing recognition of the global south against the Global north non-violence is still and Utopian idea and can only be achievable when the whole world is like one family and which cannot be there in respect to the conflicting interest and immense amount of Eurocentrism in the world.
