Shrima Rai - When You Are At Peace You Are Successful In Life (Influencer with 108K+ followers)

I made it a point to show that moms can be fit, focus on fashion and beauty and so much more. Today things are different post more moms representing their different talents and personalities on social media. I always aimed to focus on Fashion and Beauty but the motherhood side was always very present and clear so it became an open book page in a sense.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

I was born in Mangalore and moved to America when I was in first grade. My parents always kept me rooted with constant visits to India so I finally ended up settling here in Mumbai. I think now I can say I have put to use the best of both worlds.

2. What led you to start your page on Instagram and what is it about?

After a few years of working within the banking sector, I still had a dream of pursuing acting or something in the performing arts.

I realized that post-marriage even after doing a Mrs. India Globe contest and representing India on the International stage the stereotyping of a married woman was very much present in India even in 2009. My Instagram account which opened in  2015 eventually flooded with remarks like- you are a Santoor mom, you don't look like a mom, etc. I would even get trolled a little for the way I dressed.

I initially started as a blogger as I first had an active blog. Now I am called an Influencer. I find the difference is, you have to have a blog to be called a blogger.

4. Is it financially sustainable to be an influencer today?

As with any type of work with the right work ethic, networking & talent it can become a lucrative career.

5. What do you think influences consumer behavior?

I think raw connections influence the most.

6. What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?

I think when you are at peace you are successful in life.

Be authentic and passionate about your work.
