Nishant - Becoming a Successful Poet Can Be a Reality, but It’s a Journey That Requires Considerable Time and Patience (Writer/Poet/Instagram Influencer )

Jeet se pehle kai baar vifal hoga, Tu girega nahi to kaise safal hoga?

1. Tell us more about your background and journey.

Myself Nishant, I hail from Punjab and I am professionally an engineer. Along with that, I perform poetry and I do choreography for weddings and corporates. I used to write poems at times during my college days but I started performing on 9th October 2021 (Yes I remember the exact date for my first open mic). Post this I started writing and regularly performing. I never thought of being a poet who performs among many people but I am blessed enough that i could do that.

2. When did you decide you wanted to be a poet?

Becoming a poet was not a deliberate choice for me; it unfolded naturally. It began with a need to process and express pain, and as people resonated with my work, their encouragement fueled my commitment to writing poetry. This consistent practice honed my skills and deepened my passion for the art form, ultimately shaping me into the poet I am today.

3. Is it a financially stable career?

Certainly, becoming a successful poet can be a reality, but it's a journey that requires considerable time and patience. Many accomplished poets have capitalized on their talent and dedication, but this success is often the result of years of hard work, honing their craft, and persistently sharing their work with the world. It's important to stay committed, continue learning and growing as a poet, and be open to the opportunities that come your way along the way.

4. Who is your favorite poet and why?

Choosing one among the vast sea of amazing poets would be really difficult but to name one, it would be Jaun Elia Sahab. I personally connect with his work as he was able to put a deep thoughts in merely few lines. The way his work expresses deep thoughts indirectly is what I admire. Why I connect with him is because I prefer to do the same thing with my poetry, Deep thoughts in a few words.

5. Where does your inspiration lie?

My inspiration is deeply rooted in human emotions, initially sparked by experiences like heartbreak and love. Over time, it expanded to encompass themes of patriotism, religion, and the profound influence of my mother. I feel fortunate that my poetry resonates with people on these levels, forging connections through shared experiences and emotions.

6. What does your typical day look like?

A typical day for me begins with a morning workout, followed by diving into office responsibilities. As the day progresses, I dedicate time to writing and editing content, a vital part of my creative process. Weekends bring a more dynamic routine, filled with events, shows, content creation, and brainstorming sessions for new ideas, injecting a sense of excitement and innovation into my days off.

7. What piece of advice would you like to give to future aspiring poets?

To aspiring poets, my advice would be to write authentically and from the heart. Focus on expressing your genuine emotions and thoughts rather than aiming for viral success. Poetry is about connecting with others on a profound level, and authenticity is what truly resonates with audiences and leaves a lasting impact.

Wo maut bhi kya maut hogi,

Jo mujhe meri kavitaayon mein zinda rakhegi…. As he aims to be remembered as Ghalib and Jaun

8. Which is your favorite book and why?

I have two favorite books that have had a significant impact on me. The first is "Atomic Habits," a transformative read that has helped me turn my life around by instilling effective habits and mindset shifts. The second is "Main Jo Hoon, Jaun Elia Hoon," a book that holds a special place in my heart due to its deep insights and poetic brilliance, resonating with my own journey as a poet.
