Joitree Debnath - Your Home Should Speak About You and Your Values (Founder & Creative Director at Studio Aarth)

I come from a regular middle class family and starting a business in a different city wasn't as easy as it looked on social media.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

Speaking of my educational background, I have a Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design. And to mention my personal domain, I was born and brought up in Calcutta. It's been a decade since I moved into the NCR to pursue my higher education. It has been 3.8 years for me into my business. I run an interior design consultancy firm by the name of Studio Aarth. (Ref. at studioaarth.com)

2. How did you become interested in interior design?

I was interested in architecture. Interior Design happened by chance. I was preparing myself for AIEEE, until 3 months before my secondary board exams, I dropped out of the entrance exam preparations and just wanted to move out of Calcutta to do something related to design. Interior Design stood the closest to Architecture.

3. What are some of your biggest inspirations?

I specifically haven't figured out if I have anyone I am inspired from, however I am driven by my background as well. I come from a regular middle class family and starting a business in a different city wasn't as easy as it looked on social media.

4. How do you stay up-to-date with trends in the design industry?

I don't enjoy trends honestly. Design is a subjective concept and for me, design should always be personal. Your home should speak about you and your values. A trend apparently cannot define that.

5. Can you share a project that you worked on that you're particularly proud of?

You can check out Apartment 25 on our website. I was in the middle of a personal and professional crisis during the time this client called me for this project. The clients not only boosted my confidence but also encouraged me in all possible ways.

6.  What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs who wish to follow in your footsteps in the interior design industry?

Learn to be persistent and consistent. And there is no shortcut to success. Everyone's journey is different.

Bio:

I am an interior designer and stylist based out of Delhi NCR. I run a company by the name Studio Aarth which pans more on soulful yet functional designs. Creativity has always been my drive but was later hit with entrepreneurship. I absolutely admire my work and is currently in love with the entrepreneurship process in my design business.

The only constant thing has been my choice : to be always be in “work in progress”. I am learning everyday.

Out of my serval studies I realised , I can help Transform the way Business owner and Real Estate Developer touch the lives of people through Interior Design of their Hotels, Restaurants, Multifamily communities Fitness boutiques and Offices.

For individual home owners, its more of adding their charm of personality with function and aesthetic. I love to tell stories through spaces. Meeting homeowner and designing to bring their stories is what I look forward. In addition to that, the prime objective remains to add more value to the property or maintain the same.

I am passionate soul of my work and is constantly looking up to do better. Apart from looking to be the best on my field, I aspire to have an NGO that supports community of both kids and elderly people.
