Rejin Xavier Interview
Q. Can you tell us about your journey, how you first got interested in what you share on Instagram, and what inspired you to start?
From my childhood, I was interested in watching Animal Planet, Discovery and National Geography channels, and later this extended my love to animals and birds, and I got inspired by Mr. Thomas Vijayan, the award-winning photographer. This made me interested in capturing wildlife.
Q. What has been the most unexpected challenge you’ve faced in your social media/creative work, and how did you overcome it?
I took time to understand what the viewers wish to see and once I got the pulse, I just kept on going.
Q. From your posts, you seem to value authenticity. How do you stay true to yourself while also producing content for an audience?
I feel that is the way I am and that’s just the way I do things. Being true to yourself and others is the best thing you can do to have a wonderful life journey.
Q. What’s a project or post you’re most proud of, and what made it special for you?
Currently, I am staying in UAE and I am basically from India. In both places as you all know, the wildlife is very different. Once when I was in UAE, I got a chance to take the picture of Arabian Horned Viper and it got me recognition. People from around the world congratulated me for taking that picture.
Q. How do you stay motivated and creative when things get routine or when you hit a creative block?
Wildlife photography is my passion, and it took so much hard work for me to reach where I am now. All the hardships I faced and my passion gives the fuel to my journey.
Q. Can you share one moment when your work had a real impact on someone. How did that feel, and what did you learn from it?
The picture I took on Petagona Mara, which I thought to be a regular picture, but I got so much recognition for it from many people and they told me they could emotionally connect with the picture and many asked me how I could click such beautiful pictures. This moment made me happy and proud.
Q. What tools or techniques do you use behind the scenes (planning, photography, editing, storytelling) that others might not see?
I feel to excel in wildlife photography before going to the location you should have a plan about the weather, which animals boats are going to shoot and what is the scene you want to capture and most importantly you should be looking upon the lights, that is the sunset or the sun rise.
Also, I feel you should be know about the animal's or bird's behaviour and their migration patterns. Regarding the editing pattern, I don’t believe in too much editing of my picture, but I definitely add some music which makes it soothing to watch. I also add some lines if necessary to explain the story behind.
Q. Where do you see yourself in 3–5 years? What are your next big goals or dreams?
I wish to get an international recognition or awards for my photography and am looking forward to growing and learning about new experiences in my journey. I wish for more travel around the globe and taking the best shots possible.
Q. If you could go back in time to when you started, what advice would you give yourself?
Patience and persistence is the best tool you can have in wildlife photography and being positive makes you less stressful .
If you wish or dream badly for something, the world will bring it to you, if you are patient enough to stand all hardships it throws at you.
Q. In your opinion, what is the biggest myth or misconception about being a content creator/influencer today?
I think the world believe it is very easy to become a content creator or influencer, and they don’t see the hardships behind the scene.
Q. Now some Rapid-Fire Questions:
1. One book or movie you’d recommend right now?
Tamil movie : Mayakkam Enna
2. Favorite weekend activity when you’re not posting or creating?
I’m posting or creating nothing other than my beautiful dreams and my passion, so I would do the same in my free time, that will be traveling and wild life photography

Ambitious
