Sanya Puri Interview
Q. How would you introduce yourself to someone who knows you only through your content, what parts of your journey beyond beauty truly define who you are today?
If you know me through my content, you see makeup and beauty finds, but my journey runs much deeper. I’ve struggled with PCOS, thyroid issues, and genetic acne, which at one point left me feeling completely helpless. I had no guidance, and it deeply impacted my confidence.
That experience is exactly why I started creating content, so no one else has to feel as lost as I did. I’m intentional about being honest in what I share because I understand the value of real, unfiltered experiences.
Q. Your journey includes both beauty and personal health experiences like PCOS, how have these shaped your relationship with self-image and confidence over time?
My experience with PCOS and acne completely reshaped my understanding of self-image and confidence. There was a point where I was on the brink of depression, my weight dropped to 36 kilos, and it was both physically and mentally exhausting.
Earlier, my confidence was tied to how I looked. But through healing and managing my symptoms, I’ve learned the importance of showing up for myself consistently, even on difficult days. Today, beauty means far more than appearance.
Q. In an industry that often promotes perfection, how do you navigate moments when you don’t feel your best, yet still show up authentically online?
Comparison is the biggest challenge. It’s important not to measure yourself against unrealistic beauty standards or chase perfection.
Not everyone has access to expensive treatments or procedures, and that’s completely okay. Staying grounded in that reality helps me show up more authentically.
Q. What does beauty mean to you now compared to when you first started your journey?
Earlier, beauty felt surface-level, it was about clear skin and a “perfect” body. Now, it’s much more layered. It’s about embracing who I am, accepting my flaws, and feeling comfortable in my own skin.
Q. Have there been moments where your content created a deeper impact on someone’s life that stayed with you?
Yes, many. When I was navigating PCOS, I started sharing tips on my stories about what was helping me. I received countless messages from girls who said it helped them and made them feel less alone. Those moments have stayed with me, they’re a reminder of why I do this.
Q. As someone studying cosmetology, how do you balance scientific knowledge with trends and social media influence?
I don’t follow trends blindly. My understanding of ingredients and formulations helps me differentiate between what’s hype and what’s genuinely effective. That balance allows me to create content that’s both informed and practical.
Q. What are some pressures or misconceptions about being a beauty creator that people don’t often talk about?
One of the biggest pressures is the expectation to show up consistently, even on days when you don’t feel your best.
There’s also a level of instability that isn’t often discussed, nothing is fixed, and you’re constantly navigating uncertainty. Delayed payments are another behind-the-scenes challenge that can be stressful but rarely talked about.
Q. If your personality were a mix of three makeup products, which ones would they be and why?
Blush—because my personality is soft, warm, and uplifting.
Primer—because I believe in building a strong, authentic foundation in everything I do.
Lip gloss—because I’m not afraid to be a little extra when the moment calls for it.
