Swati Rathi Interview
"You Don’t Have to Have It All Figured Out—You Just Have to Keep Showing Up."
Recognized among Forbes Top 100 Digital Stars 2024, Swati Rathi has built her journey through consistency, authenticity, and a genuine love for fashion and beauty. In this conversation with Eat My News, she reflects on staying grounded despite recognition, embracing imperfections, and why real influence is measured by the lives you inspire not the numbers you achieve.
Q. Being recognized by Forbes at such a stage did it change how you see yourself, or how others expect you to show up?
Honestly, recognition like that doesn't change who I am it simply reminds me that I'm on the right path. If anything, it brings a quiet responsibility to show up more authentically and consistently, not perfectly. People may expect me to have everything figured out now, but I'm still the same girl who's learning, growing, and trying her best every single day.
Q. Fashion and beauty trends change rapidly how do you balance staying relevant while still being timeless?
I don't follow every trend. I choose what aligns with my personal style and what feels natural to me. Relevance comes from understanding trends, but timelessness comes from staying true to yourself. At the end of the day, it's less about what's trending and more about how you carry it.Q. What does “influence” truly mean to you beyond numbers and rankings?
For me, it's the messages from girls from my school or college saying they're proud of me. It means everything when someone says they admire my confidence or tells me, "If you can do it, maybe I can too." Those genuine connections matter far more than any follower count or ranking ever could.
Q. Was there ever a moment where success felt overwhelming rather than exciting?
Honestly, yes. There were phases when success brought more pressure than excitement. I constantly felt like I should be doing more, posting more, and growing faster. Comparing myself to others sometimes became overwhelming. But whenever that happens, I remind myself why I started and that it's okay to grow at my own pace. That perspective always helps me reconnect with myself.
Q. How do you maintain consistency and discipline in a field that thrives on constant creativity?
I've learned that creativity doesn't show up every single day and that's completely okay. What matters is discipline. I genuinely enjoy creating content, and even on days when motivation is missing, I choose to show up. Consistency creates long-term growth far more than occasional bursts of inspiration.
Q. What is one risk you took in your career that truly paid off?
Choosing content creation despite people's opinions was the biggest risk I ever took. I heard comments like, "You just want to become famous," and there were moments when I doubted myself too. But somewhere, I continued believing in myself and kept putting my work out there. Looking back today, I'm grateful I trusted that instinct.
Q. If you could redefine one standard in the fashion/beauty influencer space, what would it be?
I'd redefine the idea that everything has to look flawless. I'd love to see more real skin, real progress, and real effort instead of perfection. Authenticity builds lasting trust, while perfection only captures attention for a moment. I want people to feel that they can start wherever they are, regardless of resources or circumstances.
Q. If your journey was turned into a magazine cover story, what would the headline read and what story would it hint at?
It would read: "From Small-Town Dreams to Showing Up Anyway."
The story would be about a girl who didn't have everything but chose to begin anyway. It would reflect a journey filled with consistency, self-doubt transformed into confidence, and the courage to keep moving forward despite uncertainty. It wouldn't be a story about perfection it would be one about persistence.
