Shubham Rajput Interview
We aim to serve about 150-200 children daily and continue to expand our impact through community awareness programs, community welfare programs, and education.
Q. Could you tell us about Bal Seva Foundation and the inspiration behind starting this mission?
Bal Seva Foundation was born from the simple belief that no child should go hungry or be denied the opportunity to learn because of poverty. When we visited different communities, we met children who were struggling to get basic needs such as food, education, care. Those experiences made us want to do something. Not just sit back and watch. Today our foundation provides children in need with nutritious meals, educational support, health care and basic care. We work every day to feed about 150-200 kids with good food and grow our education programs. Every smile we see is a reminder of why this mission matters.
Q. Your work focuses on food, clothing, and education for children. Which of these challenges do you find most urgent today, and why?
All three are important, but hunger is the most urgent. A hungry child cannot concentrate in school, cannot enjoy being a child or dream about the future. When we give a meal, we give so much more than food, we give strength, dignity and hope. That is why food distribution remains at the core of our work, while education drives long-term change.
Q. Can you share a memorable story of a child whose life was positively transformed through your efforts?
One moment we will never forget was a young boy who stood quietly off to the side during a food distribution drive. He was unsure and tentative. He ate, chatted with our volunteers for a little while, and left with a real smile. That smile was a reminder that a small act of kindness can make a child feel cared for and valued. Those moments still motivate our team every day.
Q. What are some common misconceptions people have about supporting underprivileged children?
Many people believe that only large donations create impact. In reality, every contribution matters. A small donation can provide a nutritious meal, educational materials, or essential support. People also underestimate the value of volunteering and spreading awareness. Every act of kindness adds to the mission.
Q. Apart from donations, what are meaningful ways individuals can contribute to your cause?
There are many ways to help. People can volunteer their time, celebrate birthdays or anniversaries with children, sponsor educational materials, organize awareness campaigns, or simply introduce others to our work. Sometimes one introduction leads to many more children receiving support.
Q. How do you ensure that the support reaches the children who need it the most?
Transparency is one of our strongest values. We identify communities based on genuine need and maintain proper records of our activities. We regularly share distribution updates, photographs, and reports so that supporters can see how their contributions are creating real impact.
Q. What has been the biggest challenge in running a social initiative, and how have you overcome it?
The biggest challenge is ensuring that support continues every single day while the needs keep growing. We work hard to build long-term relationships with donors, encourage monthly giving, and remain transparent in everything we do. Trust is earned through consistent action.
Q. Education has the power to change lives. In your experience, what impact have you seen it create in children and their families?
Education changes the way children see themselves and their future. We have seen children become more confident, curious, and motivated after receiving educational support. When one child starts learning, the positive impact often reaches the entire family.
Q. What role do young people and local communities play in making your mission successful?
Young people bring energy, fresh ideas, and compassion, while local communities help us understand where support is needed the most. Together they become partners in creating meaningful and lasting change.
Q. If you could inspire one change in society for the welfare of children, what would it be?
I would encourage everyone to see helping children not as an occasional act of charity but as a shared responsibility. If every family supported even one child or one meal every month, the collective impact would be extraordinary.
Q. What are Bal Seva Foundation's future goals, and how can people become a part of this journey?
Our goal is to reach more children with nutritious food, quality education, healthcare, and essential care. We also want to strengthen our community programes and build long-term partnerships. Anyone can become part of this journey by donating, volunteering, celebrating special occasions with children, or spreading awareness about our mission.
Q. On a lighter note, what's one moment with the children that never fails to bring a smile to your face?
The happiest moments are when children welcome us with excitement before every distribution. Their laughter, innocent conversations, and joyful smiles remind us that hope can begin with something as simple as a warm meal and a caring conversation. Those moments are the biggest reward for all of us.
