1) Tell us more about your role & responsibilities at your college.

I am a part of my college Students' Union (I am really happy to emphasise that out of 4500 students only 15 get to become a part of team) with a Designation of Sports Captain Commerce. I have 2 roles; one is to select teams for various intra - stream tournaments. Secondly, with the Students Union Team, we organise various events like College Freshers’, Farewell, Annual & Cultural Fests etc. It is such a huge responsibility wherein you have to take all these things simultaneously with your Academics, Sports Practice, Event Management & Conduction of Tournaments.

2) What's it like to juggle between a leadership role and normal college life?

I don’t think so it’s a juggling in any way because college life is all about exposure to enhance many of your soft skills by offering you opportunities by means of becoming a part of various college societies. Also, if anyone wants to enhance or inculcate leadership skills, NCC provides a very good platform to do the same.

3) Do you enjoy the kind of influence you hold at such a young age?

Yes, I really enjoy it & who doesn't want to preach or expect for followers. According to me I am a good influencer because of my experiences of "My Failure Stories”, I know how to stand again, how to walk again, how to run again or how to fly again. I know & understand problems because I have been through them myself. I love when people appreciate and follow my advice and overcome their challenging circumstances. it’s a rewarding moment for me because I am enabling to inspire people from my actions & lighting the fighting spirit in them.

4) Do you have a message for parents to allow their kids to do things besides academics?

I strongly believe that academics is a very important part of our life but part of life not life. Parents are sometimes aggressive & serious upon stressing on academics which leads to great pressure or fear in the minds of children. Being the Sports Captain, I encourage individuals to indulge in sports & co curricular activities for better exposure, experience & overall development of body & mind.

I think time should be given to young people to explore things and their surroundings to make out what is the best or suitable option for their career otherwise they would never be able to make decision by its own. We have many examples of famous people who became famous from as a result of polishing their talent like Sachin Tendulkar, Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher and the list goes on and on.

5) What did you do in your current role that makes you feel really proud of yourself?

Currently I am a student of Gargi College, Delhi University. Two reasons which make me proud are - I am unbiased person who analyses or studies on the basis of facts & figures before coming to any conclusion. I do believe on my study rather than blindly following anyone's view, which is really the need of the hour.

The other reason is that I am a self-made & self-motivated person, due to financial constraints my parents aren't giving me money so I find ways by myself and give home tuitions so that my productivity is increased and I don't put any financial burden on them. This act of mine allows to take pride in myself.

6) What's your message to encourage students to do internships and attend conferences?

I think students should go for internships which give them real exposure or experience of the corporate world. Attending conferences are fine but not as fruitful as internships. Internships helps in inculcating or enhancing your soft skills. Conferences influence you for some time but again you will come to neutral level. Learning comes by doing or really performing a task in a practical manner.

Learning comes from experience & experience comes from practice. Also, by internships you can make good contacts with people & company. You can improve on your communication & presentation skills. Many a times due to their networking and smart work people are able to get jobs in the companies they interned at. Internship add a positive point to your CV and even improves your chances of being selected in any interview.
