1) Tell us more about your role & responsibilities at your college.

A CR basically acts as a coordinator between the students, teachers and the union. My roles and responsibilities include coordination of activities, getting all the forms filled and submitted, making lists, collecting money for merchandise and readings, finding empty classrooms, information dissemination and occasionally giving the "cancelled lecture" good news to the class!

2) What's it like to juggle between a leadership role and normal college life?

College itself is a time when you're figuring things out, it can get very confusing as it is, hence being a CR can get a bit overwhelming, often you are completely clueless about what needs to be done and in such times I am grateful for the support system that are my classmates and the co-CR. This job does have a tendency of being stressful when clubbed with lectures and society work but I wouldn't trade it for the world, because it is allowing me to understand my coping mechanisms as well as how to work efficiently under pressure.

3) Do you enjoy the kind of influence you hold at such a young age?

More than the enjoyment I feel responsible for the influence I hold, no matter how tiny it may be. It was my responsibility as the CR to make the classroom's environment as comfortable and inclusive as it could get! Being the CR also gave me the opportunity to interact with a larger group of people that has widened my worldview incredibly.

4) Do you have a message for parents to allow their kids to do things besides academics?

Parents! Let your kids go beyond just academics. It is incredibly important for one’s personality development, it builds one's self-esteem and allows them to explore other aspects of their abilities, it also opens so many avenues for them!

5) What did you do in your current role that makes you feel really proud of yourself?

I've never been someone who could handle herself well under immense pressure, yet recently I've realized that I am way calmer and sorted in times of stress. I've also overcome my social anxiety to a point where I can hold conversations with strangers without any hesitation and have learned to firmly stand my ground. I am extremely proud of my personal growth in these aspects. Apart from that, I am proud of always being answerable to the class and the professors.

6) What's your message to encourage students to do internships and attend conferences?

I strongly feel that students should attend as many conferences if not internships as they can, we have so much to learn from the world and these are excellent mediums of it. Don't shut yourself off from the world and the opportunities it presents.
